[cite]Posted By: KillersBeard[/cite]It would be a 10 without doubt, but for the first time in twenty odd years, I will be travelling to the Valley without my Dad. It will be without doubt one of the more surreal occasions because I know for a while it just won't feel the same, so I'm not sure I can even give a number, sorry.
This year sees my 40th Anniversary of supporting Charlton since my Dad first took me as an excited 6 year old. There is a strange symmetry to it all and I've something special planned. Obviously it all has become more relevant since the loss of my Dad.
Thats a nice post KB, you'll be fine tomorrow mate, and littlesis too. As glass says, i will be singing the first valley floyd for your dad too.
Wasn't sure, but asked my 8 year old daughter who is coming and she can't wait, she is soo excited, will be North Stand Upper so on her enthusiasm a big 10.
I'm feeling very removed from it all, and won't even be able to follow Valley's texts closely as I'm away. If I'm honest, about a 6 at the moment - though it'll be 10+ come Sheff Weds when I can actually be there. Give the boys a big shout for me, please, even the ones I don't know!
KB and littlesis - I was in the same situation 18 months ago. My Charlton-loving Dad died at Christmas 2005, just over a month after attending his last match (Man U at home - he said at the time he wasn't up to going anymore, though we didn't know then how ill he actually was.) Going back for the rest of the season without him was hard, and we moved from East to Upper North for last season, which has made it a bit easier. I kept thinking how annoyed/ upset he would have been at times with the performances last year! It's at Charlton more than anywhere that I still feel very close to him. Take heart from the good wishes of all on CL. You'll be in my thoughts tomorrow, as I sing VFR under my breath from afar.
Weegie, AFKA, MCS, WSS, Charlton Dan and Glass, thanks to all of you, strangely it's just sunk in how hard it's going to be tomorrow, but we'll be raising a pint to the old man and singing the first VFR with more gusto than normal, I promise you.
Take Care all. hopefuly I might see some of you there.
7 Win would be great but a draw or even a defeat wouldn't be the end of the world. Too early in the season.
I predict an dull 0-1 game with a defensive mix up giving us the winner. Big Chris to charge down a clearence and ZZ to put the ball into the empty net.
10. Cant wait. does it get much better than drinking with you mates all day and then watching your team play , and then more beer with mates after and the possibility of a curry!!
About a 5 for me! I'm going and I know whenever I rely on Charlton to cheer me up they fail! This could be the best day all season or the worst! Thats why I sit in the middle on this one till about 4:50 tomorrow when it'll either have been 11 or -1!
