i will warn you all now though. When Charlton Charlie pointed out the wedding clashed with the first game of the season. We mailed the groom (plastic Spud) to have a moan. His reply was 'don't worry, you're only going to lose to Scunthorpe'.
And four days later the fixture lists come out......... We're doomed, i tell thee
Having missed pre season due to holiday the kick of has crept up on me and boy has the anticipation started to kick in.... 10/10 for me I am really looking forward to an attacking style underpinned by a strong back four. If they score 4 we will score 5 simple. Sheff U suggest they have two great strikers in Sharp and Carthorse but we have even more attacking depth and strength
Whilst I still fear the worst scenario situation I posted on the other thread whilst listening to my Leonard Cohen records:-) the signing of ZZ has made me feel a lot more optimistic than I was about our prospects.
9 for me which will rapidly become 10 if we achieve 3 points!!
was only about a 7, but I've just been up to the shops, and bumped into a an old mate from school I haven't seen for years, and she's got a little son, and guess what?
He was wearing the new away kit, and was jabbering away excitedly about tomorrow.
10. Haven't sene any games yet, can't remember the last time I had a good beer, been to Ikea last night on my own to a new bed for my little girl, had to go back to get the rest of it, no moaning just went back over to get it. Hopefully in the good books for the weekend, well until I get home on Saturday sometime.
It would be a 10 without doubt, but for the first time in twenty odd years, I will be travelling to the Valley without my Dad. It will be without doubt one of the more surreal occasions because I know for a while it just won't feel the same, so I'm not sure I can even give a number, sorry.
This year sees my 40th Anniversary of supporting Charlton since my Dad first took me as an excited 6 year old. There is a strange symmetry to it all and I've something special planned. Obviously it all has become more relevant since the loss of my Dad.
You've got to love BFR. When asked to give a number between 1 and 10 he replies with ;
Usually I'm not that fussed about the first couple of matches and only get into footie in September but Pards and the team have done a great job in shuffling a few old players out and bringing in new faces and my feeling right now is that while some won't live up to the hype and transfer fees that pthers will and that we could be on the verge of a new era at Charlton. For the last coouple of seasons in the Premiership we stiched together a side and papered over a few cracks with the consequence being that too often we were playing for a draw, even at home. Hopefully now with an exciting young squad we have something to build on.
