  • Better player than many think.

    Good luck to him.
He was woeful!! Terrible footballer.. National League standard

Probably played his best games for us at wing back when he knew he couldn't get up and down so put the effort in defending. Is only still in league one because Wellens had him at Swindon and thinks he might get a tune out of him again.
  • I really wanted DJ to do well, sadly he is probably one of the worst wingers we have ever seen. Could not cross to save his life. Interestingly however, he could be a good RB IMO for a League 2 side, i reckon that is his level
  • Failed at Wimbledon and in Scotland on loan. Surprised he got a league 1 gig
Me too. A worse player for us than the likes of Payne or Thomas who've ended up in L2.
  • He's an unfortunate player in that he's decent at some stuff but not quite good enough at anything to be very good in a position. He's way too slow to be a winger, not good enough defensively to be a wingback, not quite strong enough to be a striker despite being surprisingly good at winning high balls for his size and not clever enough with the ball to be a 10 like he wants. It'll be interesting to see where he plays at Orient.

I think his lack of speed is the real killer. I've always said this. He has the other attributes
  • Cafc could never quite get a tune out of the DJ.
  • Played his best games against us for Swindon. He looked really good for them playing the sort of 10 role. In my opinion we never utilized him properly.

  • One of our biggest underperformers in recent years surprised he got a L1 move but good luck to him.
  • Remember him starting up front v Dartford this time last year , looked Overweight and was bloody Awful .
  • When we signed him, I remember Swindon fans saying we'd win the league with him

    The Conference ?
  • Good luck to him.

Bit of a strange time here, was Bowyer's 3rd choice winger target, who I'm sure had actually played more centrally (and preferred to). Brought him in anyway and then hardly used him.

All seemed a bit pointless really.

I remember people on here predicting him, Washington and Stockley would score 60 between them to fire us to promotion. The scary thing was that they weren’t joking,

Wasn't Kirk ahead of him on the list? Could have been worse I guess!

And now they must be pissing themselves about how they had our pants down with him .... and Garner .... and Egbo ......
  • Wellens had DJ when he was manager at Swindon so I would imagine thinks he can get the best out of him.

Initially he started off ok with us but his performances went downhill over time.

    He was!

I feel robbed not getting to see the Lee Bowyer/ Charlie Kirk match day experience.

Did Bowyer not want Kirk and Fraser ? I can’t think of 2 less Bowyer type players .
  • Charltonised
  • One of those moves that just didn't work at all. I am surprised he got a league 1 club but could see it working out in a new environment and a team shape that suits him
  • Has scored twice in two friendly appearances for Orient - one against Hornchurch and one against Hearts.
  • We sold him to Orient or was he out of contract ?
  • His early appearances epitomised typical league one wingers - flashes of brilliance and then anonymous .  He got worse after that - seemed to put on weight.  He had the odd half decent game at wing back under Jacko.

Out of contract, unless I missed us extending his deal. Originally signed 3.5 year deal in January 2021 window.
