He’s just not as a good as Coventry so isn’t ever going to get in the team. Says it all that he’s done to a bottom 5 club, we should be aiming for better
A very weird turn of events if you ask me. Came here with a reputation for great set pieces, got injured very early on and never really got a look in last season once fit. Then played well in pre season but again was overlooked.
Then we have a couple of injuries and some players losing form that coincided with him playing well in the nothing cup, and he literally played his way back into contention, and by all means played well in those matches. Then he gets a cold or something and is essentially frozen out again, and is now going on loan
On the fence with this one. Yes his delivery from set piece is better than anyone else at the club, but in open play i always felt he was slower than the rest too, and look quite leggy early on. It's clear our current style is high tempo for long periods so if he can't press we lose a crucial central midfield role. Anderson fits the "mould" more, but is so frustrating with his lower technical ability. But he gets around a hussles so well. In this league that seems to be the priority now and luxury will have to wait until we are playing in a more technical Championship?
Bizarre. Along with letting May go (although not on the same level), I’m not sure we can trust the player judgement of Jones and Scott.
I certainly don't think it's anything close honestly. He has a lot of good qualities for sure but he's just not particularly well suited for Jones' style/system. Even when we play badly I can't honestly see much where you could honestly see Taylor making much difference (where May absolutely would with his goals).
Good player, will definitely do well but Charlton under NJ is the wrong club at the wrong time for him sadly. If it means we can get a more suitable player in, this move makes sense.
I am not as fussed as many on here about TT going. A decnt player but think he is being over hyped on here becuase of how poor our other midfield options have been.
I spoke to his Dad on the back to the train station at Pbrough away the year he signed and it said he had offers form Plymouth and Derby but choose Charlton. I do wonder if he is on a fair wage then.

As I have said, on numerous occasions, look at our form when he was in the team, playing with Coventry, and our form since he's been dropped. It's like chalk and cheese.
Coventry suits our style of play much better. TT doesn't get around the pitch nearly so we'll, and is weaker in challenges. Also he doesn't move the ball on as quickly as Coventry.
So, he does take a decent set piece, but that's the only way he's superior to Coventry.
And, if you think they can play together, you obviously weren't at the Crawley game...
It was clear from the starts that Jones never liked playing TT. When TT was given his chance again and had a great game, In the post match interview the first thing Jones said was about the cross he messed up at the end. Not how good a game he had had.
It's disappointing but not wholly surprising, feels like NJ has never rated him and only played him because Coventry was injured. Does leave us with no cover for Cov, would have to possibly play REG or Zach Mitchell there unless NJ promoted Kedwell?

I agree he has never rated him but I think its a bit unfair as I have also heard an interview where he has praised him and said how well he has played and how he is really pleased for him as he is a top lad who has trained really hard, not sulked and taken his chance.
Hope he does well at the Cobblers, helps them take a few points off teams challenging for promotion against us and impresses enough that Northampton or another club buy him in the summer.
Can't see a future for him in a Jones side but in the right environment he might shine.
Another victim of our bizarre recruitment and manager merry-go-round.

Oh yes, he has praised him many times. It just struck me that his first instinct after that game, where he had been excellent, was to point out something bad before giving him that praise.
Good shout I think, it’s a loan and not a perm deal so excellent chance for game time and can develop more. Hopefully we’ll see him back next season as a real strong contender for the first team because the lad has skill!

I think Docherty would play there and then Anderson or Campbell would come into the team

That’s something to be excited about . I think Jones favouring his mate Campbell says it all

You mean the "mate" who has played all of 15 minutes in the last 8 games? - The player with Championship experience that wasnt called on to play a single minute against a Championship side in the FA Cup just a few days ago... that "mate"
Its more like we're stuck with Campbell unless someone from Scotland tries to buy him, or if Luton recall him from the loan because they want to play him in games... We no doubt cant cancel the loan agreement ourselves.
I mean Allan Campbell is shite, but imagine his experience means he's still a better option that the likes of Enslin, given that many on here believe that Karoy Anderson should be out on loan, so if he's not ready, I cant imagine our U21s will be a better option themselves.
I like Taylor, he's a tidy midfielder. He's not better than Coventry though and we know that we can put Docherty, ACampbell, maybe Anderson and even REG or Zach Mitchell there if we're desperate. If Taylor wants to play then he's either praying Coventry's knee explodes or he moves on to get some game time. If this frees up space to get another player in or takes someone unhappy out of a situation where he's miserable then that's fine. But we do need to get someone else in, preferably a more advanced midfielder or someone with some pace
Heard from someone who works at another club (not Northampton) that we wanted 100% of Taylor’s wages paid, so they believe it’s likely Northampton are paying 80-100%.
A Northampton fan has said they believe they’ve missed out on targets to high paying L2 clubs, so it seems believable that they’re paying most or all of Taylor’s wages.
One of them has said there have been L2 signings this month in which players are being paid around £5k - that gives a good idea just how much is being spent at they level, never mind in L1.
Imagine the wages thing has been done with longer thinking in mind.
We potentially pay his wages for the rest of the season... and then the Clause gets activated meaning that he leaves at the end of the season, so stop paying his wages a year before his contract ends. Not ideal, but at least he's then wage is off the budget come the proper Summer Window
What I'd be more interested in, is what happens if Northampton get relegated - I can't imagine Taylor wanting to drop to League Two, and am sure Northampton wont want someone of his wages on their books as a club at that level either.
So what happens if they dont take up the Clause to sign him on a permanent basis... thats the risk
I doubt he'll be here next season so that's 2 of the dead wood gone. Who else is there left that we can cull before we actually start signing players that will improve us.

It's ok.....I won't hold my breath.
