Sure, Holden has nothing to do with the signings.. but imagine you’re a player approached by cafc this week.
Permanent move - what’s the vision, why does the manager want me, how do I feature in his plans? Loan move - how often will I feature, what will I learn?
No player with a half decent alternative will sign for a rudderless team on a losing streak and no plan to buy into.
“Show yourself round the training ground, son.. there’s nobody here.”
Agree. I think there's a prevailing thought that players go where the wage is biggest, but at the end of the day, most players also want to play first-team football, and when a team doesn't have a manager, they have no idea if the one we eventually hire will rate them. The uncertainty is going to have an impact on who we can get.
I think players also understand that everything is temporary, and few things have shorter life expectancy than football managers. The lack of a manager may deter some, but I don't think, by any means, it will put off all.
Standard line from Sessegnon’s move to Wigan:
“The manager played a big part in my move. The way he sets out his team, and how he said I would fit into it, is what I found perfect for myself, for my development and for my career. Besides that place was like a disfunctional third rate circus run by an never ending sucession of chancers and football illiterate wannabes. What a fucking shambles, it must say something when I have wound up here in this northern hell hole. By the way, what day of the month is pay day, none of the lads could tell me?"
Saudi side Al-Ittihad are also interested in Liverpool's England defender, Joe Gomez, but the Reds have no intention of selling the 26-year-old. (Fabrizio Romano)
This could boost the coffers couldn’t it? Assume we had a sell on ( if not already cashed in)….
need another midfielder through the door if Payne is one of the 3 going, cover for Fraser's drop off in form and fitness, Anderson being young and yeah, Pan heading to the AFCON.
Dobson Taylor Fraser New Camara Anderson
Looking like an underwhelming end to the window and will be a repeat of the last few seasons, a fairly strong first 11, f all in depth.
I’d I’d go with two centre halves and a target man.
You’d leave us with Asiimwe as our only right back?
Dabo will sign
So Dabo plus two inexperienced youngsters on loan? Marvellous, considering the amount of balls spouted that would leave this the most disappointing window for years. We have signed quality but the squad is like a nursery, with experience dotted throughout.

Yeah, it would leave those posters who backed them so vocally looking very stupid.

We need a seasoned striker so “youngster” and “loan” don’t apply.
On that basis Dabo is either not included in the three, not joining, or we are not aiming top six.

Dabo doesn’t have to sign by Friday though he’s a free agent.
So if the rumours thread is anything to go by (from the posters that aren’t attention seekers) we will sign a few players but nothing to raise eyebrows.
We’re not even getting a new owner bounce then, we are finishing mid table once again it seems. How do things manage to get more depressing season by season, can’t be arsed, it’s still august ffs.
If that is ultimately the totality of our transfer window any of you CM backers should, come Friday, hold your hands up and admit you were wrong.
Any of us with doubts, waiting to be proven wrong, should do the same.
However if anybody thinks what is coming out in the press is anything but incomplete for us to be able to push for the top 6 in our division, I'd love to hear how.
I hope Airman is wrong as if our remaining bit of business really is Dabo plus two more youngsters thrown in to our already too young squad then it is hard to have any optimism even if a quality manager does arrive.

Payne, McGrandles and Kirk could all leave.
Payne’s understood to have a number of admirers.
If Kirk goes we may continue to pay part of his salary.
I hope you are right though.
And three leaving.

On the assumption that Kirk, Payne and DJ will leave we have:
Keepers - Isted, AMB
LB - Edun
CB - Jones, Hector, Ness, Thomas, Deji
RB - Asiimwe, Dabo
DM - Dobson, Taylor
CM - Fraser, Anderson, Camara, Mcgrandles
Wingers - CBT, Campbell x 2
Striker - May, Leaburn, Kanu
That's a squad of 22 of which 8 are U21. Nowhere near strong enough.

But yes, way too weak.
Be funny if we sold him to them, and then hired Mark Bonner
