The longer Exeter hang on to Nombe the less he is worth. If he's still there in January they'd be lucky to get 200/250k. Nothing next summer. Therefore the value in selling him is this window. If he's still there 2nd Sept I'd be very surprised.
I agree that i doubt he'll be there at the end of the window but you're ignoring his value to Exeter in helping to maintain their league one status.
Someone posted the other day that dropping to league 2 could mean a fall in revenue of around 1m due to sponsorship, season ticket sales, number of away fans attending games etc. So they may weigh up the value of that, against making say 400k in a transfer once they've paid MK Dons their 35%.
Of course there's also the danger that they might keep him and still go down, in which case they're fucked.
Morecambe in retrospect should have cashed in on Cole Stockton last summer.
Instead he lost his form for most of the season, and they got relegated anyway, with Stockton walking away for nothing.
Pardon me if I’ve missed something but is this a genuine rumour with substance or just that he’s an option identified by fans ?
It's not a rumour that I'm aware of but Josh Coburn was suggested by another poster .... as I didn't know much about him or his capabilities, I posted a bit of info that I'd found plus some videos of his play and goals. He'd also had a decent season at Bristol Rovers and won awards there.
I thought I would share as others may be interested in seeing what I'd found out.
We need 11 new players based on this shower of shit..
I don't want to be too 'knee jerk' but if we're going with 352 then based on the last couple of friendlies i think we might have to consider getting another centre back.
Too many square pegs in round holes. If Holden hasn’t worked out yet that CBT isn’t a wing back then heaven help us.
May needs a proper partner upfront.
Its not fucking rocket science.
I'm fairly sure he knows which is exactly why Edun came in. I can't imagine there's anyone at any level of the club and beyond not aware of our need for a striker either.
But getting the right player is better than getting any old crap.

Plus for the first time in years, I am confident we can get what we need in.

Definitely think we need a left footed CB.
Based on the players we have I would also consider starting Thomas (ahead of Ness) on the left of the three CBs. He’s the most comfortable in that position from the current bunch we have.

Last season the solid performances of Ness showed him best as a back 4 player,
Once Ness was injured, Thomas came in and earned his new contract as a result of his own performances - including able to cover the LB. We badly lacked cover behind LWB in that first half today.
Be interesting how we sell the club to a new striker as we already have 3. Leaburn and Aneke should/might be fit in September to play alongside May so where does that leave the new striker?

Chuks will never be fit . We need 4 fit strikers if we are playing 2 up top

yes but how do we persuade a striker who is number 1 at another club to be number 3 here

If we rotate the strikers, all of them will get decent minutes.

I think the first striker we sign will be the one we intend to play upfront with May.
Leaburn 3rd striker.
Your fourth striker (who I'm not sure we'll get) could be a PL loanee.
We'll play 51 games minimum this season, likely at least a couple more. There's plenty of games for 3 strikers given we appear to be playing 2 up top, and likely cup games, injury cover etc for a fourth.
