Personally I think our bid has been accepted. But the club aren't telling Dubai, Reams, Cawley, yet because it may encourage other clubs to come in and match the bid.
Apparently Nombe was at Exeter training today, so furthest we could be is at accepted bud stage. An Exeter fan reckons he's clearing out his stuff from the training ground, but probably on the wind up as how would he know, and would he do that before signing with us - unlikely.
I'm guessing it's something of this sort - we've sounded them out, we now know the figure they're asking and agreed in principle but not actually made a formal bid as we're looking at clearing a few wages out first - basically saying "yes we'll pay.... but not yet."
So we've got contact, the interest is very much real but we are some distance off actually closing the deal - hence Cawley insisting that nothings done yet.
Cawley’s said we’ve not gone back in, the complete opposite of having a bid accepted. He’s not said we’re negotiating or trying to, his article suggests nothing is happening.
That's what I'm saying, we've been in touch, we know what they want and RIGHT NOW we're not actually working on that deal. But the contact has been made.
From their side now they know of concrete interest they are pushing it out there to try and start a bidding war. If they know/believe a figure they want, now there's the chance to try and pressure someone (us or another) to get it done quickly and pay closer to their valuation than ours.
I'm backing Cawleys version but I think we will be signing Nombe before the end of the window, just not imminently.
I've said it MANY times on here before, when Cawley doesn't deny it, that's the only time I'm actually starting to believe, and won't truly believe, until that time WIOTOS
Starting to get a bit weird to be honest. May? Nombe? Camara? Edun? It's like instead of the black box there's just an algorithm that spools through the players who have been mentioned most on here and puts in bids for them. We never get what we want, I'm starting to feel more uncomfortable than happy to be honest, reminds me of 2011/12 when people were going on about Wiggins and Green and then they actually turned up. I'm not equipped to have expectations anymore, I don't like it.
Anyone else having the feeling they'll wake up in a minute ?
haha I am standing by the fact we have had a bid accepted. Huge pressure on here but I am sticking with it.
Can you tell us broadly speaking why you think this?
The same person who told me Tayo's agent was at SP (which he was) I know Cawley is usually bang on, but I like I say I am standing by it as it comes from someone around the first team.
Just to add, I was tempted to send in a screenshot of the WhatsApp chat I had/having. This included Cawley's tweet but I know it will end up back on Twitter so held it back. Like I said in the Chuks thread. This isn't to be ITK I am passing on the small snippets I get every once in a while. Just seems some of you get so angry when people pass on what they have been told - bizarre lol.
You don't need to listen to those posters throwing their toys out of the pram or ridiculing you.
Appreciate your efforts, mate. And if you've got your ear to the ground and get to hear stuff, always pleased to read about it - even if the situation changes or doesn't work out.
But the number one thing is to respect your source.
with a backdrop of The Cranberries signing Zombie? or will it be something along the lines of a "Nom nom nom" meme
We actually signed Nombe 3 days ago, but the delay in announcing it is that we're still haggling with Disney to use one of their clips in the announcement video. Methven has threatened we'll go to Universal if they don't say yes, and Netflix have made a counter offer.
They had a behind closed doors "match" against Bristol City at 1pm on Tuesday THEN travelled to Western Super Mare for a game at 7.45pm. In which Nombe scored.
So he wasn't dropped or sent to play with the kids.

I didn't say he was, but the match report on there website says it was mainly an academy team with MOST of the first team playing Bristol City.

To be fair mate I'd heard we'd had an offer accepted too... Maybe a misunderstanding/chinese whispers somewhere along the line. Not to say we don't get him later in the window either.

Are we really being tight arses over 500k? This club at times, unbelievable.
I'll pay the extra 500k then
info@cafc.co.uk,..sure they'd be glad to hear from you..👍
I don't need to email them mate, who do you think bought us lads Alfie May?
In regards to Nombe, I wouldn't get your hopes down just yet, no smoke without fire here and it's not like they're not willing to sell, just gonna take some patience I imagine. A club like Exeter (no disrespect to them) can't afford to let fees like half a mill disappear, I don't think they will get the 7 figures they want but I can see them selling him this window. More a hunch than anything
Either way the huge positive from this is that we are targeting proper players in the league and not league 2 players like last window and we can afford some sort of fee to get them.

Playing the long game if it isn't.
ie A Bobby Ewing moment ?

Richard Cawley has surprised the Addicks by moving to Exeter on an undisclosed fee.
