Problem is until the takeover goes through the only players we will be signing are those currently out of contract. We wont he paying a fee for anyone all the time TS is still in charge. Maybe we will get lucky and sell Lavell or Kirk for £200k & he can then use that money on a new player. It's not about the price tag? Are all the players we pay fees for so much better than others? Does the evidence of your own eyes give you that reassurance in recent years?
Cheque book willy waving don't impress me much. I'm more impressed that we're not shopping in L2 so far this close season.
Of course, I'd like to know that we would pay a fee if DH wanted a proven striker that commanded one, and it would be great if we did so that we didn't have to keep reading that we won't.
I'm sure you're right, but only time will tell and we're not necessarily condemned to a season of misery if we don't.6 -

Totally agree with this but it’s also the fine margin of if throwing him in too early could hinder him. Will be a tough one for DH to figure out but a very nice problem to have imo.fenaddick said:

Exactly. I'd have no qualms about him at CB or in midfield really. Just looks an absolutely fantastic young player.1 -
Zach Mitchell is a class above his brother Billie who is at Millwall. Can see him playing in the prem one day.4

The important thing is that he is under a decent contract, so that we're never in the situation of "having" to cash in on him before he leaves for peanuts.fenaddick said:

We've been terrible at proactively managing contracts, he has 2 years left on his current deal so now is the time to improve and extend it, reflecting his new role around the first team, rather than waiting until he only has one year left. The extra salary cost is nothing when compared to his future worth.
The same applies to Leaburn.
I assume that nothing will happen until the takeover, but I can imagine Storrie would love to be sorting this out now.6 -

Let's just make up some numbers but if he is about 1,500 a week now and we offered him say 3k a week that's peanuts compared to what players like Maatsen and Dasilva were earning at Chelsea before they played a league game.
Getting the right contract in front of the right player, at the right time, is almost impossible. Especially at our level, KAG was a great example the window between does he deserve a new contract, to why would he sign what ever we offer him was 4-6 weeks.3 -

I was told last week by an ardent Gillingham fan at work that we had offered 370k including add ons .and that Gillingham had offered 180k plus add ons totalling 450k,if this is true losing someone of Alfie mays goal scoring ability over 80k is pretty gut wrenching to say the least.
