Souleymane Diawara is set to complete a move to Bordeaux this weekend. Diawara has agreed a four year deal and is looking to make his Bordeaux debut as soon as possible. Charlton are expected to receive 5million euros (£3.4million); £300,000 short of what they paid just a year ago.
"I really hope it will be settled as soon as possible. I would like to sign on Friday or Saturday," Diawara told L'Equipe. "I won't play the first Ligue 1 day, but I would like to play on the second weekend.
"I talked about Bordeaux's interest with my coach Alan Pardew. At first, he was not very keen to let me leave, but then, he understood my desire.
"I quickly found an agreement with Bordeaux. The project of coach Laurent Blanc and chairman Jean-Louis Triaud attracted me."

Sankofa injured I believe. Assume same must be said of Gibbo and Sam. Dropping like flies.
An update From the OS..
"The good sign from the game was that only Matty Holland really had a little tiny knock. And I'm hoping on Friday that Marcus Bent, Chris Dickson and maybe Osei Sankofa and Lloyd Sam will train. These guys are important players for us and we haven't seen a lot of them during pre-season.”
We are rapidly running out of players!! Diawarra, Fortune & Faye are all probably going. Does this mean that Pardew now needs FIVE new players before the season starts, rather than the much talked about two? Dowie's season got off to a shocking start last year because so many players only joined in the last 10 days before the season started. Looks like the same could be happening again!!
yeah but next year may be different, regretablly my predictions about losing this lot are coming true, can't see Pards doing it though without getting a mainstay CH in for next week.
Because if we've any pretensions of being promoted this year, we should have at least a core of players that lift us above the general level of the CCC.
Otherwise we will just becaome an average mid-table CCC side.
i also think Diawarra would be a loss- we need some with experience of top flight football in the side and he is one of the only ones i would have liked to have kept.
As has been said on other threads, the other central defenders haven't exactly been rock solid so far.

we've got two proven CB's in the squad at this level, Bougherra and McCarthy. They were both highly rated by a number of rival clubs as well as their own - maybe we are not giving these guys enough credit? Just because we're "not convinced" yet lets give them a bloody chance.
We also have Gibbs (stop sniggering at the back) who is an international and played a number of games at the highest level...
Just because we have been relegated from the PL it does not give us the divine right to have better players than everyone else, and who can blame players wanting to move to perceived better places? I am sure Pards is trying to make us the best team in the league but because a couple of players leave when its out of our control its hardly a crisis in my opinion, we have the players in my opinion to get out of this league - even if fortune and diawara leave.

Fine in theory but Cory Gibbs can't walk to the paper shop without needing 3 weeks in traction!
Mate, i'm fully prepared to give everyone not just a chance, but fully backing, but McCarthy wasn't highly rated by anyone, and Bougherra seems more a 'footballer' than a defender to me.
You centre mid pairing is the most crucial element of the side, as it forms the base on which you build everything else around.
obviously we are speculating a bit here, but I was hinting that from what we've seen of Pards he is unlikely to let the 'gloved one' leave until his replacement is sorted.
When I look at the squad, the defence is the one area where I'm convinced we have the quality and depth to deal with a CCC season.
I could live with one of Diawara or Fortune leaving, but to let both go would be a mistake, imho.
If Bordeaux really have offered anywhere near the rumoured 4-5m euros (£2.5- 3m ish), then I'd be packing Souley's bags for him and driving him to the airport. I'd then be straight on the blower to Fortune telling him to return to SE7, asap.
Why did we let El Kak go he would have been good in the CCC? Some really strange decisions been made...to get rid off 2 CB's one week before start of season is daft!!!!! I'm getting concerned here....

He was out of contract, and didn't want to stay in the UK. Now how else is going to stay?
It looks like Diawara wants to go and, as we saw with Spotty, when that happens there is not much you can do about it.
I agree that its bad news for him to go at this stage because he has played all the pre-season games and seems to have done well but if he is going to go lets hope its quick and we are not left in limbo for too long.
We have told Fortune he can go and with Diawara unexpectedly leaving we will obviously be signing someone else to replace them.
The club will want at least 2 million for Diawara and we will have to wait and see if Bordeaux come up with the cash.
Pards clearly doesn't want Diawara to leave, has rubbished Bordeaux's offer and suggests that the player has got to come to terms with the fact that he probably will have to stay - unless our club's valuation is met.
But it does sound that Diawara fancies going back to France.
I'd be happy to have Fortune and the 3.3 million from Bordeaux. Personally I think the idea of letting Fortune go to Stoke is wrong in the first place. The manager of Stoke considers that he would be getting a Premiership player and I don't think he's too far wide of the mark. Certainly good enough for a team chasing promotion in the Championship. I'd rather both stay but I think it's most important to keep Fortune.
Charlton defender Souleymane Diawara has yet to finalise his move to Bordeaux.
Everything has been settled except for a fee between the two clubs.
The 28-year-old has agreed a four-year deal with Les Girondins, however the Championship club want ¿5million while Bordeaux chairman Jean-Louis Triaud has refused to offer more than ¿3.5millions.
Diawara, who is a primary target for coach Laurent Blanc, explained that he will even reduce his wages to help the deal.
"Reduce my wages? That would not be a trouble for me," he told L'Equipe.
"I am ready to leave. I am just waiting for a call from Charlton to fly to Bordeaux. I am fed up with spending my days waiting."
However, other reports in the French media have stated that Diawara will join Bordeaux for £2.5million on Tuesday.

He joined Dowie at Coventry, then picked up a knee injury and will be out for a while

Carson, Young, Bent & even Rommedahl leaving was inevitable but it is worrying that we are losing so much Premier quality.
We're not in the premier anymore

Definately hope i'm proven wrong though

Faye.
?
I don't doubt Boogies ability, but playing for us he did seem a bit shaky and lacking composure.
Though he looked great for Crewe and Sheff Wed on the You Tube vid.

It's all in the post match interview with Pards on the main site.
Holland out for 6 weeks.

Doesn't sound like he's gonna be too committed to the cause.....see ya!
