I'd like to know if the umpire gave a reason for his not out decision. Because, if he gave it not out because it missed Smith's gloves and bat and Stokes believed he caught it, it was perfectly reasonable to review it.

But if the umpire gave it not out due to it not being a clean catch, then the umpire should really have reviewed it, with an umpire's review.

I think they should overturn the decision to take away an England review, in the same way that Australia didn't lose a review when Starc played basketball with the 'catch' off Duckett.

If that was on your village Green on Sunday you would laugh about it because they are amateurs.
In the Ashes, that is bollocks.

At least Ben Stokes can make amends and bowl us into a winning...

    🤷🏻‍♂️

How long have they known about Broad? Seemingly loads of stuff already being played like going back through his best bits with him and sit down reflection interviews

Feels like it's one they've had ready to go for a while , they've probably got the same for Jimmy

I assume that it is chucking it down given the draw has plummeted down to 2.32

The pictures suggest otherwise so the market is anticipating that it will

Still not sure why we lost a review?

Clearly he has gloved it, only thing in question was it a clear catch, normally that is just sent upstairs for the 3rd umpire to review.

And as soon as the players come out, the draw is out to 2.60 again

Australia 53% now, England 18%, Draw 29% presumably with rain possible!
46, 15, 39 now a couple of overs later, forecast must be getting worse.

Just started tipping it down. Source: me, less than a km from the ground, abansoning my walk and getting a bus

So we come out from lunch, and as they do the covers then come out and everyone heads back inside. Absolute drivel

Great, they go off for lunch, with rain in the forecast, come back on and immediately off again for the predicted rain, bloody protocol and rules, no common sense or flexibility in delaying lunch for an hour, now predicted to be raining for 2 hours...draw here we come again!!

Most apps reckon there's about 2 hours of rain about to come, a lot of it heavy

One thing the series doesn't deserve is to be rained off. Hope we can get out with all 3 results still possible

Not out. Silly mistake by Stokes. Might've lost the Ashes
    They're not ours to lose.

    Original decision was not out.
    England review
    Final decision is not out.
    We lose the review.

i have a feeling he'll be doing punditry for sky sports. They're really lacking a former bowler on the commentary team now that holding, botham and of course warne have gone, i mean mark butcher's been their seam bowling expert for this series for god's sake, pretty embarrassing. The fact sky got the scoop and they had something lined up points me to that.

Reckon he would be an amzing bowling coach with his knowledge and recent experience of bowling to the worlds best. But yes seems destined to be a pundit.

Should never have test matches in london the weather is too unreliable etc. etc. Match is gone and with it the series and the Ashes.

It's a shame it's ruining what would've been an amazing end to the Ashes, but one positive with the rain is if it takes the win away from the Aussies. I wouldn't fancy having to play for the draw to win the series

They've probably got one for Anderson too ready to go straight away as soon as the news is announced.

I would disagree. I think they may well come out and smash their way to the target, but there isn't enough time for us to take the 7 wickets needed.

If they get back on, might as well go spin both ends
