If we haven't signed a LB in time for tomorrow, it doesn't bode well for the rest of the window IMHO0

My point was having a great strategy developed by the right people doesn’t guarantee your signings are done early. Clubs doing well will make signings late in the window because it’s not entirely within their control.supaclive said:You've agreed with me. We are shopping in bargain basement with an owner with no money who has made ongoing mistakes for 2 1/2 seasons now.@Scoham has agreed with me too by saying we have the wrong people and wrong strategies.Yes we've improved a woefully inadequate squad with two in and two out. Amazing! We STILL don't have a left footed left back nor a left footed central defender.Sess has been injury load managing since the Summer!
It’s a reasonable explanation as to why we haven’t signed a left back yet, we know we’re after Edun but Blackburn aren’t yet in a position to let players go.
I’m sure the majority agree we need a left back but let’s not exaggerate the point by including a left footed centre back too. It’s not a requirement in a more direct style such as Holden’s.
For someone like Garner you’re better off prioritising two ball playing CBs over having say a Jason Pearce simply because he’s left footed.
Nobody cared when Powell’s team won the title only using right footed centre backs. It’s a nice to have, but a long way down the list of reasons to criticise the owner for.2 -
Have to admit I didn't realise that, I thought he'd now gone permanently. So the list is a little pointless because it's not like a League 1 club are paying that out in wages.Todds_right_hook said:
Isn't he on loan from the championship?cafcfan1990 said:There is no chance that Sam Cosgrove is on nearly a million quid a year.0 -
No chance we're going to be in for a left sided CB when we have 5 on the books. That's something we need in the summer though. The left-back is poor, really poor.supaclive said:You've agreed with me. I have some bad news for you, we're already passed the deadline to sign someone eligible to play tomorrowRedhenry said:If we haven't signed a LB in time for tomorrow, it doesn't bode well for the rest of the window IMHO6 -

It’s clear we want Edun. Why would we bring someone in today (for one game) when we are likely to be able to get our first choice next week?Redhenry said:If we haven't signed a LB in time for tomorrow, it doesn't bode well for the rest of the window IMHO
We’ve gone the whole season without a LB so one more game won’t make or break our year.1 -

I've always stuck to the "Be patient, most clubs get their business done at the end of the window..." side of the argument.
But I've come to realise that we are not most clubs. We have a shoddy recruitment setup that seems to have a list of about eight players, has a history of recruiting players well below the standard we need (or not recruiting at all) and so I think it's perfectly reasonable for some of our fans to have no faith they will get things done.3 -
Ness seems to be reasonable two footed. Perhaps that’s why he always looks quite comfortable?supaclive said:You've agreed with me. We may want Edun but I disagree we will likely get our first choice next week. It will probably play out that on deadline day either Blackburn won’t release him or he’ll go to a Championship club and we will get the usual ‘we tried, but ...’.Oh Eddie Youds... said:

I dont think the second option happens. It really does seem Blackburn were all set to loan him to us.LargeAddick said:

What is the extent of the supposed injury that Edun picked up?0
-
Ipswich have signed Defender: Harry Clarke from Arsenal for an undisclosed fee, yet rumoured be close to a seven figures.
Another factor that isn't helping anyone - Even League One transfer fees are fucking ridiculous now7 -
Facts = x1 injured player and x1 ex player until end of the season.Redhenry said:1 -
I thought thus time would be different
I thought thus time, with Andy Scott in charge, we would finally bring in some quality players.
But no. Its same old same old.
I suppose with the 3 wins since the New Year it has at least quelled the relegation fears somewhat......and making any major signings less important.
Will just have to continue with square pegs in round holes for yet another season.
Sigh..4 -
He isn't injured - Think the hold up is because Blackburn wont let him go, without finding a replacement. Tomasson got quoted the other day saying that no one will leave the building until others come inCallumcafc said:What is the extent of the supposed injury that Edun picked up?

Charlton hold an interest in Blackburn’s Tayo Edun and our publication had been told recently they were close to securing him on loan. A sore Achilles saw him withdraw from U21 action the other day but Rovers head coach Jon Dahl Tomasson says he is available for their match at Bristol City this weekend.

No, they already had a suspended 3 point deduction. This ruling says if they transgress once more before the end of the year then the 3 points deduction will come into force.Redrobo said:

So......the suspension has been suspended. Again.

It’s this that I find so confusing. Why was he employed, albeit on a very short deal? Maybe you can enlighten us @Redhenrygolfaddick said:I thought thus time would be different

Not easily done when he only joined three days prior to the window opening - Need to be better prepared than that, hence why you'll hear others saying that our preparation for the Summer Window often begins in Marchgolfaddick said:I thought thus time, with Andy Scott in charge, we would finally bring in some quality players.0 -

Been playing regularly for Stoke this season on loan, so he isn't the usual signing from PL clubs L1 sides make.ForeverAddickted said:Ipswich have signed Defender: Harry Clarke from Arsenal for an undisclosed fee, yet rumoured be close to a seven figures.

He does still have eleven days left on that contract. I’m not suggesting one way or another whether his stay will be looked at as a success or a wtf moment. But we can’t make a judgement quite yet.mart77 said:

The last 3 wins have meant the urgent need for reinforcements to secure safety are no longer required. Sandgaard can save some cash.0
-
Blackburn hoping to sign Porteous from Hibs next week, central defender, and maybe that releases Edun.0

I suspect that as he's apparently an expert deal maker, he's been tasked with helping to flog the club, not deal with transfers.ShootersHillGuru said:
