Purrington was league 2 at best!Leuth said:I'm not unhappy Purrington isn't still with us. He offered little going forward (except when he decided to literally play striker) and defensively I felt he stood off his man a bit too much. He, Washington and Gilbey also gave me a certain self-pitying vibe which I can't quite fully explain. He'd have been preferable to Clayden, Clare or Chin in the position, for sure, but then we should never have had to play any of those at left-back2

We know that we were very close to signing Edun at one point and I can't imagine that they plan would be him or nothing at all. It could be we go back for him later (or in the summer) or maybe we move on to other options but a left back is definitely something that we are looking for.charltonbob said:
Is that your (correct) opinion or are you ITK on this ?MuttleyCAFC said:It would seem a left back is still a priority. At this moment, the other positions are ok.
(Not to say we will end up getting one that's any good, if at all, but we are certainly looking for one.)1

Just in case, by the remotest chance, someone from the SMT happens across this thread:-
WE NEED TO SIGN A LEFT BACK !!!
 I thank you.4

I shouldn't really post this because I don't believe it and the source is unreliable.
Acworth saying that we are in for Danny Rose. Well at least he is an out of contact left back.0

Bit harsh. Scored in the League 1 playoff final...Redhenry said:

I don't think there is substance simply because I can see the logic around what we are doing. That was not evident in the summer and whilst it can all go pear shaped, that is what I am seeing at the moment so will apply that to what is happening now. Why it seems to have changed, I don't know but it is all I expect. We can't demand or expect big money signings. If it starts getting silly again, I will call it but it hasn't yet IMO.Hal1x said:

If there is any substance to this it can only men Leaburn leaving.MuttleyCAFC said:Burstow may have improved, he had potential, but based on last season, I hope not. He was far too easy to defend against. It actually looked to me like he was marking the defenders at times. Leaburn battles with them which makes a massive difference.
I think we pulled Chelsea's pant down with that one. My biggest disapointent, and I said it at the time, was that we loaned him back and didn't try to get an oven ready striker back.0

Easily L1 level. Maybe not top draw L1, but would fit into most sides in this divisionRedhenry said:

Terrell Thomas wanted by MK Dons and Burton according to FLW.0
-
Purrington is easily good enough to be a reserve L1 left back. In fact, he is ok in most situations apart from when he faces pace. What we can have a tendency to do is exect the whole squad to be at a certain level when adequately covering a position is more of a reasonable expectation. Having said that, replacing Washington and Purrington would have been better, but failing the opportunity to do that, letting them go was a massive error.0

That would be a sensible move for both us and him, as he's well down the pecking order for us now. I imagine we're not paying him that much either, whereas Lavelle was more of a "big' signing, so he won't be dropping salary.mart77 said:Terrell Thomas wanted by MK Dons and Burton according to FLW.1

I can’t see that happening, unless we’re going to get shot of him and bring someone else in, is he even actually match fit?mart77 said:Terrell Thomas wanted by MK Dons and Burton according to FLW.0

He's Charlton fit, which, based on our current ease of injury list isn't quite the same as match fit...

The emergence of Ness has made carrying the additional centre back less of a necessity, especially if Holden is planning to stick to a back four.killerandflash said:

Of the bunch, outside of EOC, I think TT is the one I’d want to keep the most based purely on ability but his contract situation probably makes him the most expendable. That plus the fact that I think we’re carrying three squad-player-at-best calibre centre backs that aren’t good enough and he happens to be one.1

I started the year thinking that we had turned a corner & that I could trust what people (aka Andy Scott) said.
I'm afraid to say that another transfer window is passing us by and that everyone in charge at CAFC lies with gay abandon. To this end Andy Scott is no different to Gallen/Sandgaard or Southall.
 All talk and no action.
 Gah.............I'm done !4

But it’s still early if you’re comparing time in relation to, say, the Jurassic Period which extended from 201.3 million to 145 million years ago.9

JFC was injured doing his job, playing for CAFC. By any common standards of decency he had to be offered a new contract , if only for a year to recover. I bet it was a basic salary, just so he keep going financially . If you want to treat people by throwing injured players on the scrapheap it would be going back to Victorian times of wicked mill/mine owners, women dying of fossi jaw making matches and sending children up chimneys. Also hat makers going mad from mercury poisoning.golfaddick said:
Wow !The Red Robin said:What happens here? Can we cancel the loan? Pointless him being with us if true.
When JFC did his ACL (for the 2nd time) we renewed his contract for A WHOLE YEAR and he was out for 9 months of that.
 Double standards methinks.
(This is to all those who disagreed with me when I said we shouldn't have renewed it)
Yes.....JFC was our player whereas Kane isn't blah blah blah.
Same difference in my book. Got injured on our watch.

This is not directed at anyone just stating that CAFC needed to take care of employees4

T minus 12 days until people are saying they are satisfied with only 2 signings because we weren't going to get promoted anyway after demanding 5+ before the window started.

You're right, although we should have signed a left-back. We've needed one since the last window closed, that's pretty unforgivable although we don't know the situation with Edun. We've signed a striker and lost two players that weren't needed, we do need to calm down a little.ForeverAddickted said:Can people stop pissing their pants because the window is STILL FUCKING OPEN!!!
