What's worse than going in with just four frontline bowlers? One getting injured! Hogan has limped off in the middle of an over. You couldn't write it.
One point for 3 to 5 wickets, a second for 6 to 8 wickets and a third and final one for 9 to 10 wickets
I complained about this last week, as you have to be terrible to NOT pick up 10 wickets in 110 overs, whereas getting batting points is much more of a challenge, with teams losing wickets chasing the final points.

Sadly, Kent are not good enough and deserve Div2. Billings should go, Leaning is not a decent captain and despite it looking like a green seaming wicket, leaving out Chahal is stupid. Class bowlers often find a way whatever the conditions of the wicket.
This game is likely already beyond us and all we can do is hope next week is different and Middlesex are even more crap than we are.

If clear out and start again next season
Trouble is that it is difficult to clear out when players are contracted for another couple of years. The Club doesn't have the money, I suspect, to pay them off and then sign other players so it will only happen in the case of some of them if they are willing to tear up their own contracts. And that is unlikely.
From Kent's twitter "On an extremely green surface; Arafat, Evison, Hogan & Singh head a bowling attack complimented by the returning Marcus O'Riordan & Joe Denly".
Now this might be ambiguous in the sense that O'Riordan and Denly are returning but the inference is that they are adding to the bowling attack. O'Riordan hasn't bowled for club or county since early July so is he fit again to do so? In which case, perhaps that is why he has been preferred to Chahal and Nijjar given the fear of going in with four number 11s once again (last four wickets fell for four runs in the last game)? Certainly not saying that it is the right move because I would have Chahal in the team whatever the surface but it might be their rational for team selection.
I too would have Chahal in the team, regardless of the surface. He is a match winner. Although I appreciate we need to put out the eleven we believe will most likely best perform in the conditions, it must also be a costly decision not to play him. I doubt we got him cheap…
