  • Yep. Can't leave him out of your sight for a second.
Must be a right pain in the backside for oppo defenders.

A lot of credit to Tyreece himself as well, it's incredible the amount of muscle he's put on over the summer and I can only imagine how difficult that was for someone with a naturally skinny frame. Every week I'm seeing him pin 6ft+ defenders and doing what he wants with the ball - night and day from previous years.
And hes done so without losing any noticeable amount of pace or agility, which is always a risk if you focus too much on bulking up and pure strength.
I'd actually say he looks a far bit quicker and more explosive this season.
  • Yeah he's so important to us now and once he improves his finishing in general he will be some player. Must admit I didn't think he would improve as  much as he has. One of those players you always feel will do something special
  • It's just that end product thats missing right now, tbf if he fixes that he won't be with us long
  • I think his ceiling his probably the championship if he can work on his finishing.  So when we are promoted next year he should fit right in
  • His progress this under Jones has been brilliant to see and his workmate is fantastic. 1 minor grumble with TC (and it's a good job Lee Bowyer isn't our manager) is he does pull his foot out of a 50/50 a bit. Seen this a few times this season.

He does it quite a lot to be fair and I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets injured from it one day, pulling out is worse than staying in.

In fairness to Jones, he has really developed TC. When he started playing him through the middle as a starting striker I thought it was ridiculous but he’s starting to click there.
I'd love to agree, but he's definitely playing out wide still. Not really ever central.

He does play out wide when we’re attacking, but when defending he can use his pace and energy to press as one of two strikers, or save it for when he gets the ball, rather than having to track back.

Keeping concentration, being strong in a tackle and getting in a good defensive position aren’t required in the same way they would be if he was playing as a winger. Those are weaknesses in his game that he no longer has to work on to the extent he would if we needed him to defend as a wide player.

  • He plays wide but much more centrally than a standard winger, particularly nearer the halfway line in build up. Obviously this is tainted by the first few months of the season
  • Watching TC come through the ranks he was a devastating player largely against his peers from other clubs.
Sooner or later those peers from other clubs will be the opponents he faces as a grown man, and if he devastated them in the past, he can devastate now.
TC is a salutary lesson for those who rush to judgement. The journey from an academy player to the first team is a complex and tricky quest.
By contrast Tolu Lapado looked great at youth level for us, but is now a free agent.
  • Tolu Ladapo is now at Lewes in the Isthmain Prem, doesn't seem to start though.
