Miles Leaburn - Signs New 3 Year Contract (p77)

Thought he was going to Chelsea ?0
-
I'm sure he'll sign a ten year deal with us on 5 December 2024.
This is based on nothing at all ie exactly the same as all the other "predictions" on here7 -
I’m hoping that Miles will sign a new deal with us that compensates him as one of our leading players whilst also having a release clause for the summer of 2026, should we not be promoted from L1 by then, that both sides are comfortable with.I think he’s a cracking player but he still has a good way to go and I hope he sees that and he signs up, to help us both move to better times.0

I didn’t see the interview, was he delighted?golfaddick said:
His demeanour when giving his interview after he scored 2 goals on Tuesday said it all.ForeverAddickted said:
Does there need to be a quote from Miles at this stage?allez les addicks said:No quote from Miles in the article says it all
good news but he’ll be sold at latest in the summer0 -
I know it’s a difficult decision, and its tough to keep good youngsters on your books.
Bur if you are continually selling your best players, you’ll never improve.
The old line of ‘well the money will get spent improving the squad’ is this ever rarely done, or done well in our history, Jenkinson aside?
I know money talks, and every club, is a selling club, but when you look back at the players we’ve had on our books down the years, we could have had some heck of a sides, if we’d managed to keep them.3 -
Promotion is needed to keep the very best players at the club, and sadly that's something we've been unable to get close to for a while.Mendonca In Asdas said:I know it’s a difficult decision, and its tough to keep good youngsters on your books.

The fact of the matter is he has not outgrown us/League One yet. This is almost certainly because of his injuries but remains a fact. He is best focusing on that than going to a higher club and not getting games. He is in the right environment here to push on which I'm sure he will do. I would expect him to sign a contract with a release clause at some point. Simply because it is the most sensible thing and he seems a bright lad.6

I always thought 'number two's' were your problem 😱1 -
I think in OohAah's case they're more like number one and a halfs.

Gave it to the Southend fans at the end. He’s ok !3

You referenced a clause in his contract that both parties agreed to intimating both parties are happy with it.Todds_right_hook said:

Its as simple as that
what has 2.5 years ago got to do with anything? The clause was agreed 2.5 years ago when he signed his contract. You’re right, I’m sure he was happy with it then, hence he signed the deal. But I suspect he’s pretty fed up now at being tied down for another year by a club going nowhere and presumably on terms similar to those he agreed when he was effectively still an academy / “YTS” player, when he could alternatively quite realistically even despite the injury issues he’s had be looking at securing a very substantial signing on fee and probably at least doubling of salary in January.Anyway, very relieved we have him tied down and here’s hoping we can go on some monumental winning run to get him up to the next league with us.1 -
Scored a great header today5

How’s he looking in person? Has he filled out a bit? Does he look like he’s got some of that sharpness back?0
-
Would probably say he’s at around 70% maybe. Still a bit off from his usual self with the ball at his feet (though there has been the odd glimpse of brilliance) and fitness wise still not 100%. Looks to be stronger though and that’s helped his aerial abilityfenaddick said:How’s he looking in person? Has he filled out a bit? Does he look like he’s got some of that sharpness back?4 -
Or alternatively he's fed up at how long it's taking him to get back to his best after his injury, and possibly slightly worried that the injury means that he won't get back to the level he was at before. We can suspect all sorts of things, but we can't know, cos we're not him. And to be honest I dunno what golfie was going on about regarding his demeanour in the interview - you'd think he'd never smiled once, which certainly wasn't the case.paulsturgess said:Todds_right_hook said:

The commentator somehow deemed it fit to describe this towering leap as a "stooping header".
His Dad would've been proud of this one.

Cos cramp never results in muscle strains, pulls or tears does it? Nothing to see here obvs 🙄Scoham said:https://londonnewsonline.co.uk/sport/nathan-jones-clears-up-miles-leaburn-substitution-after-forward-limps-out-of-defeat-at-huddersfield/Good news, fortunately only came off because of cramp. REG plays half of all his games like his whole body is cramped4 -
Carl's first few goals (all at grounds with Park in their name) were with his feet. I dont think he started getting airborne & scoring with headers until we got relegated & were playing in tier 2. (First division as it was then).Billy_Mix said:
