I imagine it’s the same logic as training at high altitudes.

27 degrees forecast tomorrow in Sutton. Just a normal warm summer day.
Indeed, as it could be on the 30th July. Gotta be ready folks!
  • The players are lucky that we're not playing on Monday or Tuesday, as that's when it will be REALLY hot!

As it is, I will be bring a hat and sunscreen with me as I'm not sure how much cover the away end has from the sun. Not a normal football problem  :D

  • Looks like Sutton have put an extra 80 or so terrace tickets on sale as they're suddenly not sold out any more. Also still a few seats left in the away end. There's been no indication of whether there will be additional tickets available on the gate.
  • For the punters.

    Charlton 1/1
    Charlton win & BTTS 3/1

Decent when you consider a) majority of our favoured XI is starting today and b) our last two results (6-1 & 4-2).
  • Hopefully see some trialists today

You would hope our strategy of ball retention would be a huge factor on a day like this.

In our u23 game maybe, doubt there will be any with the first team.

  • We seem to have quite a close connection to Wealdstone now, I imagine that more of our U23s will go on loan during this season, especially if they impress today!
  • Just rumbled into a pub to get a bite to eat before the match, guy at the bar is called Nigel  ;)
  • U23’s are drawing 0-0 at Wealdstone.
  • Looking at Wealdstone's Twitter account, I see that the U23s are now 1-0 up.

55: Goal for Charlton. Aaron Henry plays it across the box to Euan Williams who calmly finishes past Howes. 0-1

I assume you were chatting him up, seeing that you know his name already  ;)

Interesting that Henry is playing that game rather than being involved with the first team.

It makes sense, assuming Dobson is back

It was a tough enough game on Tuesday against a physically strong, sharp and very well drilled Hampton & Richmond side. We were outplayed for most of the game and although we had more possession in the second half, we tended to overplay in an attempt to score the perfect goal, rather than sometimes whipping the ball into the danger area. As my son remarked, our lads are used to being able to play through sides at their age group, whereas a robust and very well organised men’s side were a much more difficult nut to crack.

Anderson was impressive as the midfield fulcrum and Adigun definitely livened things up when he came on for the second half. He certainly looks a player. Kanu poached a late goal in the six yard box (the sort of goal we rarely score) and then produced a lovely feign to shoot which put the defender on his arse to win the late penalty, which Williams tucked away nicely.

The 3-2 scoreline flattered us but it’s all good experience for these young players and underscores what they need to do to make it in the senior game.

Agree Anderson looked good, but disagree about Adigun, he looked completely off the pace.
