  • Macca: 6 | Ness: 6 | Lavelle: 6 | Elerewe: 7 | Clayden: 5 | Morgan: 7 | Gilbey: 4 | DJ: 6 | Davison: 4 | Leaburn: 8 | Aneke: 6
I'll be controversial and incur the wrath of Leuth... Gilbey wasn't that bad. I'm the first to call for an upgrade, but his errors were far more where I want to see them today, I.e. After having done something, and he was helping drive us forward more... plus he scored. 6 for me. Agree with the rest.

What I don't get is why Morgan can't do that run more often. Great finish.
  • Is Dobson not being involved that mysterious? Henry made the bench, he would only of got 15 mins anyway and Dobbos probably the fittest in the squad.
  • Kanu just scored a tap in. 3-1
  • And he's just won a penalty
  • 3-2 after only getting past the defence twice all game. Kanu has made a heck of a difference.
  • An impressive 3952 at Dartford for the Millwall game

It finished 2-0 to Millwall, but Dartford didn't make wholesale changes so had a full strength team out for the 90
  • Just pulled a couple of very late goals back - Kanu and a Williams penalty

I have to say if he had ‘taken a knock’ like they said about CBT last week I would be more inclined to think it was nothing.

Does not feel right that they have ‘rested’ a player when he could have come on and played 15 minutes, especially as it’s all part of the team development process.

Will Dobson be as big an asset in a team whose aim is to have the majority of the ball is a different question though.

Would have expected dobbo to be on the bench instead of Henry unless he had a slight knock. Not like anyone doesn't need minutes given we only have 2 friendlies left and he's only played 105 minutes so far. Hopefully it's just being managed like you say but I say mysterious.

He wasn't that bad once he'd scored but was annonymous up until that point. Didn't think Davison was that bad either, although seemed to get knocked off the ball a lot given he's not a small player. Not to say he was good but he did ok.
  • Feel Clayden will go out on loan before the end of the window. Not sure he’s a natural left back and can’t see us making the same mistake at that position like last season.

Davison being forced to play out of position for an 18 year old isn’t a good look. Would imagine most clubs below us would be happy to have him in a swap deal.

O’Connell can’t be good, because he came on a free and some whining child on here said, free transfers are all rubbish
And some self righteous self appointed defenders of the faith pointed it out, more often than the original point was (wrongly) made.

Both the point, and the counter, are meaningless and done to death.

  • FT: Colchester 2-4 Charlton
    Thanks
  • Does anyone know of any stats are done for these games? I'd be interested to see our possession stats for the last couple of games, we seem to have so much of the ball it's almost ridiculous.

Observations from tonight. Neither fullback in the starting line up will be anywhere near the first team this year, MacG does not look comfortable playing out from the back, neither does Lavelle.

Think there are lots of goals in this set of players, but equally concerned that we still look fragile at the back.

Quite liked Chuks in midfield and Leaburn did himself no harm again. He did get outmuscled (possibly unfairly) for their second goal but all round did well.

Still think we need fullback cover, a mobile striker and if as expected we move Davison on, another striker.

Encouraging signs and one thing is for sure we are already a lot easier on the eye. Starting to see patterns of play and players linking up nicely - the Kirk ball through to Fraser being a prime example.

    Fake news
  • Think we need to see O’Connell, Lavelle and Innis start together then next couple games to build some sort of connection. Start from the back. Three decent players for this level need to be on the same wavelength

How can they start together, considering we now play 4 at the back, are you advising that one of them play a full back role?

Why would we switch to a back 3 now?

Still a while till start of the season, I don’t know what preferred formation we have. Especially now Egbo is injured.

Fair enough but we were let down badly by lack of versatility last season. What I was getting at was that lack of defensive quality was mentioned yet we have the players, I’d like to see some familiarity at the back over the next couple of weeks.
