Are the Albanians wearing invisibility cloaks?
I’ve lost count of the number of times an England player has been running with the ball and an Albanian just sneaks up on him and nicks it!

About time one of them finally just gave the ball to Kane

We've had about three opportunities this half, where we could have just squared it to Harry for a tap in

Impressive though, Albania have now conceded four goals this Qualifying, and only one wasn't us

I like how Lee Dixon said “it doesn’t matter who gets the flick on”, while failing to notice Kane would’ve been offside if that flick on was from an England player…

    What a cross
  • Great cross from Rashford and inevitably Kane is there again.
  • Make that four out of five goals Albania have conceded...

He's a bit of a decent Footballer is Harry Kane
  • Ukraine have scored in the 83rd minute to lead Iceland 1-0

Both of those were level on points, with Iceland ahead on GD going into this game, so if Ukraine hold on, will go into the Play-Offs

History making. We're the first European side ever to play at least six World Cup qualifiers and win them all without conceding.

On Tuesday, Spain can also qualify with a 100% record without conceding but they only play 6 games.

Kane moves above Pele on the top international scorers list and is now 12th all-time.

Ukraine win 2-0 and advance to the Play-Offs instead of Iceland
  • Albania finish 2nd in the group despite only scoring 7 goals in 8 games.

Not sure how the seeding works for the play offs (i'll wait for @Callumcafc to tell us) but they're surely the kind of side Ireland would love to be drawn against if possible.
  • "Since qualification for Euro 2020 started in 2019, Harry Kane has scored 40 goals in qualifying matches for major tournaments (World Cup/EURO), eight more than any other European player (Ronaldo - 32)."

Three pots of four teams, based on the FIFA Rankings which'll be released on Wednesday

The fourth pot, is made up of the four Nations League teams, and will be in order of their NL ranking from the last campaign

Pots One and Two will be seeded (so will get the Home Semi-Finals)

Based on the current teams that have Qualified in second place its: Ukraine (27) - Czechia (44) - Albania (61) - Ireland (62) based on current rankings - Both Kosovo and Bosnia could end up in the Play-Offs, but won't be allowed to end up in the same Play-Off path for political reasons

Troy Parrott has had worse weeks, you'd think (the ones when he had to play for Millwall, for a start).

2 for Portugal then 3 v Hungary to win two must win games.

Will Ireland jump above Albania after todays results? As based on some of the other expected play off sides:

    Germany/Slovakia
    Poland
    Italy
    Turkey
    Austria/Bosnia
    North Macedonia/Wales
    Denmark/Scotland

Who are all ranked higher, i don't think it's likely that Ireland will make the first two pots to be seeded?
  • Good on you Parrot. Remember having him in one of my Football manager teams and he became a wonder kid. Scored a load of goals for my Rende team as we marched up the Italian leagues.
  • Italy take an early lead against Norway... Just another ten (?) goals needed to overhaul their Goal Difference? :D

Which is why I dont get all this hullabaloo over Ireland (both of them), Scotland & Wales. They are all celebrating like they've won the bloody thing but all they've done is get into the play offs.

I'll raise a toast if any of them actually quality for the WC.

I don't get the instant desire to "belittle" a team from celebrating these days, when they've not "achieved anything"

Seems a general thing these days from many Football fans - i.e. Remember both Sunderland and Orient mocking our pitch invasions when we got to Wembley in 2019 and this year... So bloody what... With so much shit we all have to put up with in the world these days, what's wrong with celebrating the small victories when they come along?

In respect to the Republic of Ireland / Northern Ireland, both teams were ranked "3rd" in their Groups ahead of Qualifying. Neither team were expected to even make the Second Round so are celebrating making it to the next stage...?

Just because some people like you go through life f**king miserable Golfie, doesnt mean everyone has to!! - Whatever f**king next, a Non-League team shouldn't celebrate beating a League side in the FA Cup, because they've not won the trophy yet?

Really shouldn't feed the trolls at times... But god they come up with some absolute low effort shite

I don’t get the hullabaloo over what England have achieved. Not as if our group was France, Netherlands and Spain for example. Let’s see how Mr Tickle does when we start playing decent sides.

Irish scenes for those who haven't seen

Watching with my da and sister and I’m wearing my home Adidas shirt from 1990 (thank feck I’ve lost a bit of weight this year 😂).

Unreal scenes. It’s been a while since we’ve seen Ireland put in performances like the last 4 days, perhaps Robbie Brady’s late winner against Italy in Euro 16, the last time.

Said to the family that the way Troy scored that winner, tapping it under the keeper with the sole of his boot, reminded me of the way Super Clive brought the ball under control with his studs to then score the 2nd goal of his Play Off hat trick.

Not there yet. Hopefully two more huge games to even qualify, but what a feat if they can do it after dropping so low over the last few years. If they make it to the US, they may even be reunited with some of the thousands who went over in 1994…and forgot to go back!!!  😂😂

Haaland just scored his 15th and 16th goals of qualifying which equals the all time record.
Norway now beating Italy 3-1 in Milan after being 1-0 down.
He’s also scored in 11 games in a row, which equals another record

Nigeria lose to DR Congo on penalties on the African playoff final

DR Congo advance to the inter continental playoffs
  • Now 17 countries qualified as Morocco won their African qualifying group on Friday with 2 of their 8 games still to play.
Up to 18 qualifiers today after Tunisia also win their group with 2 games in hand, although in their case they've played 8 of 10. No real shocks about the first two qualifiers from Africa, but with 9 to qualify this time there are some relatively unfamiliar names among the countries still in contention.
Egypt won their group yesterday, during the second-last round of games in Africa, making it 19 qualifiers to date.
Algeria made it 20 countries qualified today, guaranteeing topping their group with a game still to play.
Ghana sealed qualification yesterday - 21 teams now settled. Cape Verde need a win today against the last-placed team in their group to qualify for their first ever World Cup.
Congratulations to Cape Verde who have qualified for the first time ever, the 22nd country to make it to this tournament. They are the second smallest country by population ever to have qualified, only Iceland is smaller. The BBC tell me the team's nickname is "The Blue Sharks".
    23: South Africa
    24: Qatar
    25: England
    26: Saudi Arabia

2 more from Africa to be settled tonight.

England not only qualifying without conceding a goal and with 2 games still to play, they are the only UEFA country to qualify this early. Due to Portugal conceding a stoppage-time equaliser that prevented them also qualifying 2 games early. No laughing at the back, now...
    27: Ivory Coast
    28: Senegal

A bad night for those of us who were hoping for some more debutants. Gabon did qualify for the African playoffs, along with Dem. Congo, Nigeria and Cameroon. Only one country gets to go to the final playoffs, so that's a long shot.
France winning their group last night means they're the 29th country to qualify.

The remaining 10 direct qualifiers from Europe and 3 from North America will be confirmed during the rest of this international break, leaving only the 6 playoff slots to be sorted out. The playoffs will be 16 European countries competing for 4 places and 6 from the rest of the world chasing 2 slots. The current round of matches will also finalise who qualifies for those playoffs. Scotland and Wales are both guaranteed to be in the playoffs if they don't manage to win their groups (which Scotland might, but Wales would need a miracle). Northern Ireland also have a very good chance of a playoff slot. So it's been a pretty good qualification process for the 4 UK teams.

The African playoffs to determine who goes to the intercontinental playoffs (and will be a huge favourite to qualify) was narrowed down to Nigeria v DR Congo. Another of the possible first-time qualifiers, Gabon, were knocked out last night. Serious chance of Ademola Lookman getting to the World Cup despite Nigeria having under-performed so far.
Croatia's win over the Faroes means they are the 30th country to qualify and Czechia are guaranteed second in the group and a place in the playoffs. Which takes Czechia out of contention for the 4 slots in the playoffs reserved for the best Nations League performances among countries that don't finish top 2. Northern Ireland had been fifth on that list and are bumped up to fourth, so they are now guaranteed a playoff despite losing tonight.
Qualifiers will come thick and fast over the next couple of days with the remaining European groups, plus the Asian playoff on Tuesday and the last round of North America games in the early hours of Wednesday. For today:
    31 Portugal
    32 Norway

DR Congo will need to wait to see if they are seeded in the intercontinental playoff.

    What an utterly daft comment.

Ireland have an incredibly limited squad who've been hopeless for nearly a decade. In the space of 3 days We had to beat Portugal at home and Hungary away to get to a playoff (coming from behind twice and scoring in the very last second). Its so far above what they've done previously, it feels like a miracle

What the fuck did you expect? Them to shake hands and quickly jog off the pitch.

We all aren't blessed to take qualifying for granted like England
