Well that didn’t go to plan. Just passed on what I was told from a usually impeccable source, not convinced even the recruitment team have much of a clue.
Can you tell us who the players were at this point?
Defender was a loan from champ side, wasn’t given name.
Forward was Scully from Lincoln.
Clear what happened with Scully then, Championship interest came in and we didnt stand a chance
Yep indeed, and shows the complexity of how the transfer market works even though those who literally have no idea like to make out how simple it is.
Either way though, that’s why you have a ‘list’ of targets and I can’t believe it was just Scully and Bonne on it.
Was Scully on it?
Well according to CEL.
McKirdy could have been on it. Stockton could have been on it for all we know.
But there’s lots of factors involved. It’s not just who we want. But who else wants them. How much they cost. Do they want to come. How them coming in might effect other members of the squad etc.
Sadly people just seem to think it’s an easy process when it’s not.
But still, if you’re getting the point where you say you’re looking at the free transfer market. You’ve gone fucked up. Which we have.
Still the only thing more embarrassing then that is the typical over reaction by grown adults on here about it.
It’s like we have to go through seasons waiting for TS to learn how it all works - rather than employ a ceo who would tell him, End of this season interview will be ‘we relied too much on young players, we won’t do that next season’
Somehow the club did their best to under promise yet still manage to under deliver. The club looks super amateurish in not getting anything across the line, especially when it got so late in the window. Looks like their may be some grounds in TS only caring about balancing the books, especially if JFC has left too. Seriously disappointing that the final pieces weren’t acquired for a play off push. We’ll now need a large slice of luck to be in contention.
I guess we got to the Championship under Roland so anything could happen 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
So this crap midtable team people keep mentioning? Talk me through that.
Last time I looked we were 8th and had lost one game after a tough set of opening fixtures.
We have Egbo, McGrandles and Aneke still to come into the group.
No one is arguing that we don't need some extra bodies in, but FFS, get a grip. We are a better side than last year, are finally developing an identity and style of play and you only have to watch the game on Weds to see we have a good crop of players coming through.
The meltdown brigade all seem to be ignoring the fact that the press release states we will look at the free agent market. No idea who is available, but we may get some one decent.
No signing. Player passed their medical but no deal.
It doesn't actually say that It could have been many reasons
Yes it does...
We thought we were there and the player had passed his medical at our training ground on Thursday evening, but unfortunately there were complications beyond our control late in the day, which went down to the last minute, and we haven’t been able to sign the player.
The player had passed his medical !!
He did NOT fail his medical
My grasp of English is quite good
The player did NOT fail his medical ffs !!
lol!... You need to go away and calm the fuck down fella
No I just don't need calling out for the club to fail to sign anybody but move on two first team squad players and two junior players yet have a CEO / Owner telling us we were pushing for two, maybe more players.
It is what it is BUT we are going nowhere in Division 3. Stand back and actually understand that.
Charlton are a mid table, division three team.
I want better. Sorry.
We all went better you idiot - A good number of us though dont feel the need to act like spoilt children who havent got the toys they wanted come Christmas Day - We're grown adults, many of us have children ourselves, I'd be embarrassed if I started acting in a manner that I wouldnt ever expect from my four year old
Carry on with the name calling I'm a realist And so be it Nevermind
Meltdowns aside, we’re short up top. Aneke completely unreliable, Stockley struggling in this system and Leaburn although showing promise can’t be expected to carry the load. I think JRS, CBT and Kirk are okay, but I can only see JRS chipping in with 10+ goals
Decent forwards are so hard to come by, but if Garner did watch all of our games from last season, I struggle to see how he thought Stockley could carry the can in his preferred set up.
Bloody ridiculous, we’ve done 3/4 of the work bringing in some really good players. We’re a good striker and another centre back away from having a real go this year in my opinion and we’ve screwed it up.
Disagree, I'm glad the Bonne deal didn't go through. I don't feel he would offer much difference to what we have.
Sandgaard and Gallen have time and time again said about this anylasis set up we have. Why again are we waiting for the deadline day for one striker. Why didn't we have a number of options ready incase of scenarios like this.
We have failed to address an issue we all knew we had weeks ago.
It's compete shambles. So is that letter on the website.
Obviously I would have liked us to spend a bit of money on a decent L1 striker, but if that wasn't possible, then surely there were loan options available if we moved earlier.
Pompey for example, not one of the moneybags clubs, signed THREE strikers in the window, Colby Bishop on a perm, plus Joe Pigott and Dane Scarlett on loan. Scarlett scored the winner on Saturday

It is not a meltdown to be pissed off that 1/2 strikers are permanently injured and 1/3 centre halves are guaranteed months out in a season.
Free agents are free for a reason. We’re so close to mounting a challenge but Sandgaard wouldn’t fork out a fee. If he can’t afford to sufficiently support the clubs aspirations he should step aside.
I finally feel like we have a manager who can get us out of this division. All Sandgaard had to do was back him with a couple of signings today & we had a good chance.
Matej Vydra Marc McNulty Andy Carroll Yaya Sanogo Hal Robson-Kanu Fraizer Campbell Isaac Vassell Jamie Thomas Oumar Niasse Sam Winnall Leon Clarke Nathan Delfouneso Josh Parker Lewis Mansell Tom Elliott Derick Osei Yaw Theo Robinson Caolan Lavery Ryan Hillier
Interesting to see that Mckirdy & Stockton both didn’t get moves.
Bit of a crap end to a decent window at the start. Have to hope that Chucks gets fit and can stay fit although this record is not good, but there is no doubt about his ability at this level. On the CB front, I think it’s nuts we haven’t signed one (more so then a striker) I don’t rate Lavelle particularly.. if O’Connell gets injured we are in big trouble.. again.
Season is far from over, however I do think we have fallen behind big time from our main rivals in this league. I feel like we are onto something with Garner and I hope we don’t waste it.
If this is going to be the norm from now on (cost cutting, free transfers etc) I struggle to see how TS takes us forward.
Still looking forward to Saturday and think 3 points will turn the mood right around.. although I think it might be a big ask.

Thomas did say a "couple" had gone out on loan but only Gilbey confirmed.

I feel for Ben Garner. His hands are tied.

Bonne isn't good enough/the right player.
I'm not sure how the two statements are incompatible?
What a Muppet!
