QPR fan reckons it’s because they didn’t get a striker in.
For me, Bonne is insignificant. It’s the fact we’ve let it tick down to the final seconds when it’s been clear since the first game Stockley wasn’t gonna work in Garners system. That on top of the failure to get in another defender that we’ve seemingly been after for weeks is what makes this so damning.
No signing. Player passed their medical but no deal.
It doesn't actually say that It could have been many reasons
Yes it does...
We thought we were there and the player had passed his medical at our training ground on Thursday evening, but unfortunately there were complications beyond our control late in the day, which went down to the last minute, and we haven’t been able to sign the player.
Cue all the people who said “I’d rather no one than Bonne” complaining that we didn’t sign any one.
Why does it have to be so binary. We can want players to come bolster the squad as clearly needed without being overly keen on Bonne. It was never about mere bodies coming in it was about adding quality to help us compete for promotion as we're clearly lacking and now relying on frees that no other club has deemed worth signing/ retaining in the window.
Might get another CBT and be laughing or might not.
Charlton fans only want Charlton to do well and find it so bizarre the snarky comments and scorn at fellow Charlton fans being disappointed/ frustrated at lack of adding to a potentially decent base squad.
Following the closure of the 2022 summer transfer window, the club would like to update supporters.
The Addicks signed seven players during the window and were working very hard to add at least one more player on transfer deadline day.
Charlton Owner and CEO Thomas Sandgaard said: “It has been a busy few days and we were very confident of bringing in another striker before the deadline. The whole recruitment team - myself, Steve [Gallen], Martin [Sandgaard] and Ben [Garner] - have been working tirelessly to get this last deal completed.
“We thought we were there and the player had passed his medical at our training ground on Thursday evening, but unfortunately there were complications beyond our control late in the day, which went down to the last minute, and we haven’t been able to sign the player.
“With players departing the club on loan, that frees up some space in the squad and we’ll now have a further look at options in the free agent market.
“Despite not getting a striker in, we have a very good squad in place and an excellent manager, as our early-season performances have shown. The whole group are focused on the coming months and doing the best they can for the club.”
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
You can all mock me all you like......but I wasn't wrong.
The 'free agent market'? Like instead of shopping in Lidl, it's shopping at the food bank. Or going down Lewisham 'market' after the stall holders pack up, and gathering a few cabbage leaves from the pavement. As far as I am concerned it remains a must win at Bolton. I suppose the remaining players have less competition for their place in the team, that might be a good thing.

The player had passed his medical !!
He did NOT fail his medical
My grasp of English is quite good
The player did NOT fail his medical ffs !!
lol!... You need to go away and calm the fuck down fella
Well that didn’t go to plan. Just passed on what I was told from a usually impeccable source, not convinced even the recruitment team have much of a clue.
We are now officially fucked. . . 95% done direct from the man who does the transfers. . . Still doesn’t happen . . . Fear the mood turns now so early in the season if we don’t win on Saturday.

Can you tell us who the players were at this point?
Does feel a bit stupid to have left signing a striker to the last day, and what about the CB position that desperately needs filling?
No meltdown from me, but I am disappointed that we're seemingly so close to having a proper crack at promotion and for whatever reason we're not giving it full commitment. Yes results have been good so far, but we all know that we're going to have injuries to key players and we simply don't have the depth to deal with that currently.
I've lost complete faith in the ITK'ers, don't blame you guys but it's clear your sources know fuck all (including Martin Sandgaard)
People can be in the know about whats potentially happening in the background
But until it happens a lot can change - No wonder less and less people on here are sharing information they're aware of, if they're gonna get stick when it doesnt happen
Hmmm.
Might be worth checking what Martin actually told several Lifers at last night's game.
Sounded to me as though he was 100% certain of his facts on the transfer front.
Now IF he was a bona fide employee at our club, he might have found that his salary had suddenly become "too rich" in the current economic climate ( at CAFC )
That’s inexcusable tbh. We’ve had 3 months to sign a striker after letting a perfectly good one go for free.
I assume either QPR pulled of the deal because they needed to get a striker in themselves or Bonne changed his mind. Either way, leaving it until the evening of deadline day and failing is a complete embarrassment. Sandgaard has once again over promised and horribly under delivered.
We have had 14 months to sign a striker, we were light when Aneke left the first time.
I know why it happens (because one player in is linked to another going out etc etc) but it never ceases to amaze me that clubs leave things to the very last minute. Whether Bonne was the right signing or not is irrelevant but, when one like this falls through at the last minute, it leaves us with nowhere to go bar an untried PL/Championship loan or a free that is a free for a reason.
The statement issued by the Club is one that was that was first used by Meire and subsequently by Southall. We've heard it all before.
Chill guys and girls, this is the future for all transfer windows with break even Tommy in charge. There was no striker half way through the door, smoke and mirrors, you can smell the BS. Onwards and upwards

Mid table obscurity once again.
You've been waiting all day to post that haven't you?
Spout enough shit and eventually you will get something right.
You are literally the most tedious person to ever log on to the internet.

Defender was a loan from champ side, wasn’t given name.

I absolutely still rather it.

To get absolutely no-one in in two key areas that desperately needed it is bordering on criminal.
I thought we weren’t leaving it all to the last minute this time Thomas?
