The funniest thing about Bonne signing is the fact that people will be left so confused - I mean your options are him and Stockley up top... Which one are you gonna whinge about.. decisions... decisions
Bonne not official yet, but I don't know what anyone realistically expects that would be much better than Bonne as a centre forward. He was a frustrating player when here last time, but also had his moments. It's clear the budget was never going to stretch to a real marquee, talismanic type signing. You'd all be better off to stop slagging off Chuks and start praying he gets fit asap and stays fit so he can contribute a significant number of goals off the bench.
Considered? FFS isn't it a bit late to be considering? Surely we should have had a list of targets lined up & should have been negotiating on the last day not considering. Why has it taken so long to decide to sign a striker? Oh yes prices come down apparently on the last day. bargains galore on the last day of the sales ! Great to see we learned the lessons from last year
Oi Mods ! someone's hacked my account & copied & pasted my thoughts from the past few years.
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness you know golfie...
Imitation ? How fucking dare you. I've been supporting this club for 57 years & I've seen enough shite players & shite teams getting shite results to have become a miserable bastard without copying another miserable bast er gentleman. I can think for myself thanks......imitation my arse.
As I've said previously, I trust Ben Garner more than any other manager we've had for a long time. I'm not a fan of Bonne, but if Garner wants him, then I trust his ability to get the best out of him
I just can't see how Bonne does anything for us. There's a reason Ipswich fans don't want him back.
If we sign him over anyone else it puts a massive dampener on this window for me.
Because they’ve got a massive budget and can afford someone better.
Do they? - Or are they just gambling with people's pension money? - I mean its potentially worked so far, they got Scott Fraser and then could have sold him on to us for more money (if true) just six months down the line
Personally, I'd as sooner sign no one than Bonne who is neither that prolific or much of a target man, but the mob have been baying for blood over a new striker so the club have felt they have to sign someone. It seemed fairly clear a few weeks ago that the club didn't think there was a good enough player out there within budget but the message from the fans was "sign someone, anyone!". Well, be careful what you wish for.
Bonne’s gonna sit on the bench behind Stockley in the pecking order. And when Aneke is fit he’ll be lucky to even make the bench.
I think we’re being a bit dramatic here, unless you were expecting someone better than Stockley, which I don’t think was ever going to be the case.
When did Stockley score double figures in the Championship? Bonne is better than Stockley, especially in this system with 1 up top
Bonne is not better than Stockley.
I don’t think there’s much between them but in this system I think he scores more goals and helps the team more than Stockley does. Every away game stockley has been dreadful. Bonne played on his own up front away at the likes of Fulham, West Brom etc and scored goals at a higher level than we are at now. If we get that player back then he’s better than Stockley
If you want someone to keep getting caught offside and missing chances, then Bonne's your man!
What's with the collective amnesia hereabouts?
Selling him to QPR was one of the most un-Charlton transfer deals in recent memory - they were desperate and we managed to offload someone who wasn't good enough and get paid handsomely for it in the process.
We need him back like we need an outbreak of Ebola in the dressing room.

He's better than Washington.
Not really too upset about it if it does happen.

Dont think Bonne is the player to get in behind defences that Sandgarrd mooted 2 days ago. Always offside & his finishing is worse than Washington's.
We haven't sold him for millions and then taken him back for next to nothing 2 years later have we?
