My neigbours have made some comments, as my car is fitted with a good old fashion crocklock (moden version), my wife bought me the crocklock as a Christmas present a couple years ago so i have to use it, as I would not hear the last of it if the car is stolen.
They are good. In fact they're that good they even named a swimming baths up welling after them
You would think they can be found with CCTV nowadays. The same way they find those who haven't paid their road tax. Although maybe the car was stolen for parts, being a popular model. The people who do this should be caught and you would hope the Police are trying to do this.
Sadly not a hope in hell of that happening.
Our car got nicked a few years ago. Reported it and a couple of days later got a letter saying the case was closed. Whilst I hardly expected the cream of Scotland Yard to investigate, they put no effort into finding it even though the area the car was nicked in was covered in CCTV cameras.
Afraid car theft is one of the crimes the police have given up on.
But if it was an oligarchs car there’d be 20 peelers all over it. (See squatters at oligarchs empty house). The Met don’t even pretend anymore that they are a service to deal with ordinary people’s concerns.
My mate had his beige fiesta stolen around 1988. Got it back a week later after it had been used in a robbery and the thieves has put a new clutch in it.

Oddly enough I had my M3 stolen from Sevenoaks station car park....got paid out at market value which was a miracle. The next year I moved to Australia and in the second year after the theft I was on a visit home and was checking out my house which was rented out.....long story short, the tenant said that the local village Police lady was looking for me....so I went to her home and she said, hey....good news, we found your M3....obviously it was no longer mine sadly......the scumbag had just changed the plates and had been happily driving it around for two years....a random stop and a check of the vin was his undoing.

Copper told me 40 years ago that once they've issued a crime number, car theft is a job for the insurance companies. Sadly this policy seems to go for burglary too nowadays.

Many years ago I worked opposite the Home Office when they resurfaced the road and didn't have time to get the yellow lines down.
A lot of cars parked along the road and posed a security threat.
It didn't take long for a lot of specialist police officers to arrive to remove the cars. I saw a Krooklok removed in about 10 seconds.

If it belonged to a Russian Oligarch they would be searching their extensive APNR camera database and would have posted a dozen images of it on it's way, if not having actually recovered the car and arrested the toerags.
