First opportunity for DJ to run at them and get a cross in, nearly halfway through the game.
This is the prime symptom of our problems. Our wingbacks are regularly in no-mans land.

They have been pinned back defending as a 5, then when we get the ball we pump it forward and our wingbacks run to try and catch up with the play. But by this time, we've lost the ball, and the opposition can now quickly get the ball in behind where our wing backs were.
Rinse and repeat, until we give away a corner or a goal.

We've probably not had a passage of play of more than 3 passes, and that happened maybe twice. And we haven't changed tactics at all. I'm sorry but Jackson is absolutely clueless on how to get a tune out of these players. He will just keep banging away at the same dysfunctional and unbalanced formation until he is sacked.
  • First 30-35 just dreadful. A team completely devoid of organization, ideas, and confidence.

A couple of little moments from Lee and we seemed to grow in confidence a bit.

This is a team that's scored, what, once in the last month? Being 0-0 is a victory at this point. Hoping we at least get a goal in the second half.
  • We have always been a bogey team for Sunderland maybe the gods will shine on us in the second half.

How shit are they ? We know charlton are rubbish atm but it’s like watching two Sunday morning teams after they’ve had an all nighter. I keep looking to see what position the obligatory fat bloke is playing
  • Glad to be level at ht. Too many free headers being offered. Ref is not going to give us anything and could well send one off given half a chance... Let's keep battling and with luck we can squeek a point?

90 minutes without conceding a goal.  Small steps and all that.
Charlton fans: Curbs would shut up shop and grind out a result

Also Charlton fans: worst half ever
  • Get the ball to Frasers feet this half

It's not scoreless because of good defending by us, it's because Stewart has missed at least 2 good chances
  • We seem soooo far off the pace it is almost embarrassing, they are pressing us very hard, but we need to be a bit cuter on the break, so over to The Covered End as usual to do their best to create a goal..we are not really in it so far, but we are still level..just..COYR show some spirit ffs... I'm beginning to think Burstow is not very good
Just a teenager low on confidence. He needs a goal off his backside or something.
He needs to not be starting games, he may end up being very good but doesn’t create for himself. I’n saying that it’s not meant to put him down. But, he is young and not ready by a long way. The really good youngsters are ready but not Chelsea’s burstow.

Remember some on here saying Lavelle was the best CB at the club 😂
He’s been in the right place a couple of times to stop Stewart getting shots on target. His wayward header back was disappointing but otherwise he’s been solid.
First 2 free headers from corners were all in his area. Solid he is not

Does anyone grind out a draw without the opposition missing a few chances? Another day he’d have scored at least one of those but clean sheets aren’t usually kept because the opposition barely had a shot.

Charlton TV need to get neutral in so they can be a bit more expressive, instead on current players who need to tread on eggshells.

    Sankofa was good last week
  • Looks even more silly now
  • Longer they go without scoring the more frustrated they'll get. I think this finishes 0-0
  • Is that Katrien back to interview Chris Parkes?
  • 1) Need to stop giving away set pieces.
    2) Stockley has shown how important he is.
    3) Burstow is invisible

Apart from losing Stewart for 3 free headers......
It’s not been his responsibility from corners primarily. There was one header where Stockley was beaten that I remember for example.

There was a moment from open play where the ball was placed in an area that meant Lavelle had no chance to get his head on the ball before Stewart did. What Lavelle did instead was cleverly lean on Stewart just as the ball came in to his head so the header went harmlessly wide of the target. And Stewart landed awkwardly and needed medical attention.

  • Nice shot with Chris Parkes with Curbs and Peacock..great servent to this club...
  • Well, I managed to die five times in Elden Ring at halftime so hopefully that's not too foreboding.

Stockley’s area too, and Pearce. They all seemed to get in each other’s way.
    Fraser’s been disappointing.
Jaiyesimi’s been quite good defensively. Our inability to maintain possession is alarming. Sunderland getting very tight. We should back in, and win some free kicks.
    Overall, pretty awful.

  • A controlled opening 45 minutes, but it remains level in South-East London.
  • Never mind "Fill The Valley", many more matches like this and we'll struggle to fill a phonebox (kids, ask your grandparents what they were).

If we weren't Sunderland's Kryptonite we'd probably be 2 or 3 goals down by now.

Still huge credit to him for coming out and saying something. Easy to Tweet when you're winning.

You can pin the free headers from corners on Lavelle if you want, but as @JamesSeed said, when you look in the aftermath… is he Lavelle’s man? Or Stockley’s? Or Pearce?

We are a mess defending set pieces whoever is in the team I’m afraid.

  • Here come both sides for the second half... No changes at the break. COME ON YOUUU REDS!
