  • You sound like a tough old bugger, @Redmidland , I'm sure you'll see this off the same way you have all the other stuff. Take heart from the success stories posted above, and come through this stronger than ever. I'm sure its not going to be a picnic though, so all best wishes to you, and I look forward to hearing good news as you progress back to health.
  • Blimey my best wishes go to you both. Keep fighting.
  • I have been contacted this morning and have an MRI scan tomorrow so they can pinpoint the tumour. I will then have to go into hospital as they want to fit a temporary, (hopefully), 'stoma'. Then the radiotherapy and chemo will start for a 5 week period Mon-Fri every week. Its strange when you get told something like this, I reacted in such a strange way....I said to the consultant "Can you make sure I'm not in hospital when The Open Championship is on?"....he looked quizzically at me and said "Why - are you playing?"  That made me laugh and then said "No just watching on TV and its on Sky and the hospitals don't have that!"
He smiled and said, "Yep you make sure we know when the dates are and we'll avoid them!"
How fucking stupid was that conversation? I guess it was my way of coping with the news!

I know where you are coming from. It is a way of ensuring you have some control over what is going on. The hospital was not impressed when i told them I am going on holiday next month .as i pointed out I do not want to spend every 2 weeks stuck in the unit and the feling crap for 3 days.  They agreed to change dates
  • Ah now RM, that’s a kick in the danglies.
But as has been said before, if you deal with it as you have previous bumps in the road, you will beat this bastard thing!
Sending all my love to you ♥️
  • Wishing you the very best for a full recovery @Redmidland You are clearly a fighter and you have the whole of CL behind you! Warm wishes Paul

I have an update for you, my friends. 8 years ago, with your help I fought off Heart Failure. Today I was told I have bowel cancer. Medication starts tomorrow, followed by an operation and radiotherapy with chemo every weekday for 5 week solid.
Am I scared, yes, will I fight...hell yes.....will I win.....too fucking right! another battle starts for me today. I'm determined not to lose.
There is obviously something going on . Last summer i was suffering from what was thought to be IBS but wasn't and it seems the bowel cancer has been ticking silently for years. I am now on my second line of Chemo as the first did not do much. Like you I am determined to fight this. George allagyer the BBC news reader was diagnosed stage 4 nine years ago and it still with us . Strangely apart from Chemo sude effects i feel as fit as a fiddle.  Stay strong
Had a regular bowel screen just over 2 weeks ago. Last week I was in having a Colonoscopy where they found something “bad”. Was told yesterday that the biopsy showed it was cancer. Luckily CT scan said it had not spread. Due to see the Consultant next week after being put on the priority list for an operation next month.

I have no symptoms and am relaxed. Let’s see how things progress. Shows the importance of having regular bowel screening.
Sorry to read this @HardyAddick, the thing, as I'm trying to do, is stay positive. Looks as though this disease is becoming more prevalent.
    Take care!
  • @DPFC, @HardyAddick, @Redmidland best wishes for your treatment.  Look forward to you ringing that bell. ❤️
  • Sorry to hear the news RM and HA. Wishing you both a speedy recovery.
  • Hardy, let’s hope you live up to your name.
    Love to you ❤️
  • Best wishes HardyAddick.
