Feels worthy of its own thread.
Been reported by Sky’s Charlton-supporting correspondent so has some credibility.

Good to see the black box is working.
I'd welcome Chuks back, we've missed his goals, but why didn't we try harder to keep him in the summer...

Cawley confirmed.0

£300k for a player that left for nothing only 5 months ago.
What a fantastic piece of business.70 -
Loved watching him play but concerned with his fitness. Yeah he scores but a professional footballer not being able to last 90 minutes? Why are we signing another sick note?7
-
Type of player we are desperate for. Didn’t replace him in the summer and his quality has been missing throughout the season.
Fitness issue is a concern, but the club must be happy to take that risk.7 -
Has the physicality to make it harder for defenders. How fit is he?4

Good move - comes with its known medical isues but when he's on the pitch, he's dynamite24

length of contract ?0

I know it seems weird, and bad business - but come on - he was a beast last season, never thought we'd get him back. Out of nowhere as well, I think its a great move. Shouldn't take too long to settle in either. Maybe Adkins didn't rate him?8

what a brilliant piece of business. we need a striker who can replace Stockley or Washington if they are injured and we recruit a player who can only play 30 minutes6

300k is obviously not a huge sum but once again shows Sandgaard is willing to spend some money on transfer fees. He's not perfect but has attracted a lot of criticism recently. Fair play to him, how much did we spend under Roland in his last couple of seasons again?25

I think people on this board sometimes forget players have their own free will.
Permanent deal is great news, the super sub is back!25 -
I’d have him back. Better option than Josh Davison27
-
Wonder how much of a signing on fee we tried to offer when we wanted to renew his contract.
Cant imagine it would have been £300k
Be good to have him back, but also needs to show composure in front of goal
There were times last season where he was equally just as wasteful as the likes of Washington, e.g. remember him hitting the bar against Rochdale from within the six yard box.0 -

Love watching Chuks play, as mentioned he is absolutely dynamite when on the pitch, and a real joy to watch. Sadly, for me that does not happen enough.I know he comes with his massive upsides to performances and points returns, but I can’t help but feel we are falling back down some slippery slopes bringing him back. Hopefully we are also planning on bringing in another quality striker as well, which will then make me feel much more assured.1

If he has sorted out his fitness issues, he is a player who can help us get out of this league next season.3

I’m not really focused on the financials as none of us will know the details.
But from a team / squad perspective, if it’s a permanent deal then is Chuks a player that will improve our squad with an eye to delivering a promotion season next year?Do people think the answer to that is yes?26 -
I mean I love Chuks as a player he's great entertainment value, but it doesn't really speak to some great direction that we're losing a player on a free, signing him back for a fee in terms of holding onto players, and the depths of our scouting department...1

Cynics might say that he tried the Championship & was found wanting3 -

Is it possible to be both underwhelmed and whelmed by a transfer? Great player (in this league) on his day, struggles to do 90 mins, happy it's a permanent deal but paying for someone we lost on a free does sting a bit.3
-
Don’t like to moan but does seem a desperate signing - £300k for a player who left on a free less than 6 months ago & his injury record isn’t great - IF we can keep him fit then I’m happy to be wrong but to me, it’s a bad move6
-
To avoid any semblance of doubt I welcome him back, but like others its a shame we couldn't have kept him last summer, or replaced him once he left.5
-
Why sign an injury prone striker, another one we can’t rely on! I despair!6
