The loan rules change next year, so clubs in the premier league are not going to be able to loan out as many players.. So may these will be like extended trials with a view to signingPelling1993 said:What's the point in loan players at this stage....1 -
Well, at least we now have a new CAM to compete with Elliot Lee.1
-
So is there one today, plus Browne as and when that gets sorted. Or is the Browne the one and only?1
-
In addition that now leaves us with the full quota of possible loan signings for a match day squad
So doubt there will be a sixth loan coming in - Guess now its a case of trying to get Marcus Browne in and that'll be it, unless of course that falls through and we revert to option B / C or whatever we're currently up to0 -
My thoughts exactly.Pelling1993 said:What's the point in loan players at this stage....0 -
Well Nile John is not 19 for another 6 weeks. It's possible that he'll need some time adapting to mens football, like Dasilva did. We get to look at him for the rest of the season with a view to signing him again in the summer for a promotion push next season. If he doesn't do well enough, we look at an alternative in the summer. That's ignoring the outside chance we snap him up permanently in the summer. I think a loan move works but it has to be with a view to the player being here again next season.Pelling1993 said:What's the point in loan players at this stage....9 -

I thought that Kirk going was not dependent in a signing coming in but it now seems so.MattF said:
Meanwhile a bloke deemed useless here is seen as good enough for the Championship. Strange , or not ?
But more likely just a coincidence.2 -
There is absolutely no chance that we will sign one of Spurs' top academy prospects on a permanent deal in the summer.cafcfan1990 said:

The article highlights we can still use John in the Pizza cup, so I imagine this was already done before and we’ve held it back.Henry Irving said:

We do at least seem to be signing players in the positions I felt we needed filling the most.3

3 signings in the January window already & still 4 days to go.
This doesn't feel very Charlton!!10 -
Probably not, that's why I said outside chance. Decent chance of getting him on loan again though I'd say.Croydon said:

Unless Browne drags out, I really dont expect us to do any business on deadline dayGravesend_Addick said:3 signings in the January window already & still 4 days to go.

Got to love our fans this window.
We're going nowhere because we haven't replaced Aneke. We replace Aneke with Aneke. Ah ffs he can't play 90 minutes, why we resigning someone who left for free 6 months ago.
Lee hasn't been doing it, we need some competition. We sign Nile John on loan. Ah ffs why we signing someone on loan.21 -

Lot of people losing perspective and failing to focus on the key issue with these signings.
There is only one thing that matters.
Do they pass the Charlton Life Height Test?3 -
Purrington isn't a wing back, why we giving a chelsea wing back game timecafcfan1990 said:Got to love our fans this window.

We're a mid table league 1 club so expectations should be managed accordingly.Red3valiant said:Gravesend_Addick said:3 signings in the January window already & still 4 days to go.

My point stands. I'm pleased to see our business done relatively early, signing players we actually want rather than scratching around for whatever's available on deadline day4 -
Don't worry, we'll still get the old old joke trotted outChunes said:Why do we always leave our business until the last min--
Oh.
"Today is deadline day or, as Charlton fans call it, Monday"2 -
a wishful thought .. Ellis Simms [Everton - Hearts] Loan .. his goals played a major part in Blackpool's promotion last season when he was on loan there .. he is just what we need .. even so, Scottish football is undergoing a bit of a resurgence lately3

I hate to be one of the moaners I really do. But a loan signing, unless there’s a guarantee we get first option on him next season, seems fairly pointless to me when we’re destined for mid table. I’d rather give one of our own a pop.5
