Indeed although NRR is calculated based on runs and overs (for and against) not runs and wickets. Pakistan took 17.5 overs to get them even though they didn't lose a wicket getting there0 -
NZ win by 8 wickets off 14.3 overs0
-
A lovely crushing NRR defeat too. Been a splendid weekend4

Can’t see how India can qualify now0
-
England destroying the convicts then India getting battered. Perfect.Very impressed by Afghanistan. Wouldn’t it be marvellous if they pulled off the shock of beating India in their next game.4

They must have a slim chance if they win all three remaining games well, but New Zealand have two easy games in Scotland and Namibia. Taking it as a given that Pakistan will qualify, India will need Afghanistan to beat New Zealand so technically out of their hands but not yet totally impossible if I have it right. What I'm not sure on is NRR. New Zealand have the opportunity to improve theirs, what sort of victories would India need and is that realistic or possible?0

Only one Indian bowler, Bumrah, has taken a wicket in this World Cup. Perhaps it's not just their batting that's the problem0

There is one nation next on the rank after us and Afghanistan. And that has to be New Zealand. Unlucky against us in Stokes's Final, they have the best all round team for all forms of the game and deserve to win something for that. The likelihood is that we will play one of Afghanistan and NZ in the semi in which case one of the three will make the Final0 -
NZ could beat us, but I fancy we are the stronger side. Afghanistan won't beat us.
Pakistan, in the final, could.....0 -
Want to see England bat first against a major team and win. Want to see any team do that tbh2

England are one of the few teams who won't stop hitting. Weirdly I can see 80 all out or 180 as equally likely if England bat first. Pakistan have the attack to bring both possibilities about too1

If Afghanistan can beat India on Wednesday, which doesn't look impossible on form so far, that would set up their game with New Zealand as effectively a quarter-final, with the winner likely to play England in the semi. Given the run rate situation, Afghanistan might even go through if they lose to India, but they might find themselves needing to beat NZ by more than a certain amount, which would make the task much harder.
Hard to see anyone other than England or Pakistan winning overall, unless one of the favourites has a major off-day at some point.0 - Sponsored links:

There are a lot of "ifs and buts" so far as NRR is concerned but Afghanistan's margins of wins and defeat have given them a big advantage:
Afghanistan (190/20) v Scotland (60/20)
Afghanistan (147/20) v Pakistan (148/19)
Afghanistan (160/20) v Namibia (98/20)
Their NRR is 3.097 as against NZ's 0.765 and that difference will only get wider should Afghanistan beat NZ. It will then depend on by how many Afghanistan lose to India (assuming they do) and the margins of victory for NZ against Scotland and Namibia respectively. If Afghanistan do beat India then NZ would have to beat Afghanistan and probably by a serious margin too.0 -

If Afghanistan beat India then both they and NZ will be won 3, lost 1 going into their game against each other, so winner goes through regardless of margin. NRR only comes into it if India beat Afghanistan who then beat NZ, or in the event of one of Scotland or Namibia pulling off a shock result. I suspect NZ may go into their Scotland & Namibia games aiming to get ahead of Afghanistan's NRR, just in case.0

Hopefully you will get the 2nd part of your wish.
Should be a good game.0 -
Great shot from Roy. He is playing as best as he's ever played in the sense that he isn't trying to hit the cover off every ball1

Just worry that our middle order not really had a bat yet in this tournament0

But we should be seeing off these qualifiers….0
