Energy Bills

Has anyone received anything from their energy companies about their bills going down this summer? Isn't the price cap reduction supposed to be coming in or has that been quietly dropped? Could do with some reduced bills with a rather unpleasant rise in mortgage costs coming in next month!0

Shell energy: electricity down from 33.517 to 30.295p per unit, gas 10.411 to 7.607. Standing charges unchanged.
Octopus: essentially the same0 -

Although I am £600 in credit, might ask for it back and earn some interest on it0 -

Must be expensive as well and she's likely to have trouble paying her energy bills.

I’m going to wait till July, and see what fixed deals are available, I’ve had the standard email from Octopus to say prices will be falling in July (they also say that I’m paying twice as much than I was before the prices went crazy) I think we’re going to have to get used to the fact of paying much higher prices than we used to, however the energy companies spin it.1

It feels more and more like the Govt/BoE are engineering a reset/recession, but they need to be careful that they don't drag too much of the nation down as firms can't keep inflating salaries (more inflation), can't borrow (rates too high) and have a reduced marketplace for their goods and services (Brexit).............the outlook certainly looks pretty bleak to me or maybe I'm just becoming a miserable git!?!0 - Sponsored links:

This, along with EVERYTHING Shamdiq Khan't is up to, plus the skims the banks are taking, has just become too much. The mug-offery of this nation's people is a total joke, and we're a laughing stock of a nation.3

How much do the prices have to rise and how much profit needs to be made before it gets called out for what it is - racketeering, pure and simple.

The UK utilities model is completely broken, privatisation has been a licence to print money by big corporations, at the consumer's expense.6

Energy pricing cap here in Spain has meant our bills have barely gone up at all in last couple of years and extremely grateful for that especially as have to have air conditioning on quite a lot in the summer.3

Annual energy bills for a typical household are expected to fall slightly to £1,926 from October, according to a new forecast.
Consultancy firm Cornwall Insight predicts bills could drop by £148 under a new official price cap set to be announced by Ofgem next week.
In a statement, Cornwall Insight said that the slow reduction of bills along with the "volatility" associated with the energy price cap might mean more customers look to going back to a fixed tariff for their gas and electricity.

I fixed my energy for 12 months with Octopus energy, they reckon it will save me £28 a month.
I know I could have taken a risk and left it till October / later, but just wanted to know exactly how much I’d pay, rather than it going up and down all the time.0 -
What prices did you fix at?1
-
The prediction is that the cap will reduce by a small Amount in October. I think it’s then likely to go back up in January. My fixed deal ends at the end of August so I’m at a crossroads in deciding to fix now or wait until October. Surely the prices can’t stay as high as they are now indefinitely?
also. Why’s fuel at the pumps going up again ?1 -

Standing charge - 36.54p
Gas - 7.05 per KWH
Standing charge - 27.47p
Gas was the biggest decrease from memory, a lot of stuff was the same, I think has had gone down 0.5p not much but over a year it adds up.
It does have a £75 early exit fee for gas and the same for Electric, even if I change tariff during the year, I guess it will have to fall a lot to make it pay to take the hit on paying that.0 -
Doesn’t Martin Lewis suggest not fixing yet as the cap will come down (October?) and you are fixing at the higher rate now ?0

The forecasts are that the cap is unlikely to fluctuate by more than £100 here and there for the rest of this decade. I would wait until October and then fix.
