No Adkins yet, surely he hasn’t resigned already…….0

There were some nice moments in that, but sadly once again, my favourite bits of the evening have been the pre and post match stuff, rather than the match itself. But I have other things to be getting on with rather than post-mortems tonight.

He talked about winning promotion with Ipswich and how they didnt care if they went behind as they knew they could bring it back - On that showing tonight, and by the sound of things from Saturday... We go behind and we're scared shitless0 -

I hated that 2nd half. Once again, so fucking one dimensional.
Made even worse by the start which shows the players are capable. But then zero resilience, zero fight, zero composure, zero game plan and zero adaptation.
We are fucking shit.9 -
Not sure why we’re worried. I mean, look at Blackpool last season, started shit and stormed the play offs. Just got to have a bit of faith............4

Firstly, MK Dons are a great team to watch, really play some lovely football. Much like Oxford before them. We just can't keep up with teams of this quality as gutting as it is to say as a Charlton fan when talking about two minnows of the game.
Our midfield is poor, Dobson, Clare and Morgan ok squad fillers but none of them should be starting.
Should have gone all out for Fraser or even Twine who is a very good player.
I thought Parrott was strong and expect him to do well this season too.
MKDons and Oxford will be right up there at the end of the season.
Watson should do the honourable thing and retire like the Crewe lad has, his heart is clearly not in it. I wouldn't have him anywhere near the bench, rather have one less sub. Gunters foul throws utterly unforgivable with his experience and the new keeper looks like a rabbit in the headlights.
As for Innis, it's just laughable. Can't string any games together. He started the season unfit as we were scared to play him pre-season. You simply cannot have the guy as a first choice CB no matter how good he may be in the 10-15 games you may get out of him each season.5 -
Not sure if it's recency bias but parts of that second half felt like some of the worst football we have played in recent years.
We have no attacking threat from either of our full-backs, and no one in the middle of the park who can take control of the game. With that in mind, as ever it seems with Charlton, we seemingly become very easy to defend against and fall into the same patterns of play which eventually end up with us launching diagonals to Stockley.
Its horrible to watch.7 -
If anyone at the club involved with the decision to let Shinnie - our best creative midfielder - go, and can explain why that was a good move and how we're better off now, l would love to hear it.34

I don't want apologies from anybody who attacked me or anybody else who dare question what the fuck is going on.
I want the club to take this shit seriously. We are in very bad trouble. If Stockley gets injured we are royally fucked.
This is as bad as I've known it playing wise. Please CAFC listen to us. We need reinforcements. And quickly.
I'm the bell end for knowing a decent footballer when I see one
Keep attacking. Unlike Charlton.....2 -
esseffect said:What a surprise the same people from last year are back moaning again. No it wasn’t great, give it time.
My frustration comes from how pedestrian the team looks with such a small amount of recruitment. But the midfield is all completely different. Matthews and Gunter have always been bad.Glad to see people blaming the players this time and not the manager.4 -

Didnt come out for it in the slightest, would love to know why Inniss got taken off - Elewere did well but a bit like Joe Pigott when we played Millwall, he's just not ready for this level of Football - I'm all for using youngsters, as they'll raise transfer fees, but its suicidal throwing them in far too early like that.
We just didnt get going
Kirk I feel really sorry for, probably wasnt ready if he's not trained enough with this team but get him into the game, you hear commentators saying that players should be given a feel for the ball as soon as they get on the pitch, but the poor lad was bloody ignored.
Still refuse to panic as other teams have finished top six after a bad start, but god do we need an improvement.
Trouble is; Sheff Wed and Oxford, they're the teams you can expect to struggle against.
Milton Keynes, no disrespect but they're the standard team at this level - If we're struggling agains them its a concern.
I dont blame the players. I blame the management ream.8 -
No identity to this team last season, we needed a clear out, instead we've signed 2 midfielders not wanted by Sunderland or Oxford and its easy to see why.
Going to be a long hard season. Recruitment has been a disaster.7 -
Dobson brainless tonight, Gunter a defensive liability and going forward takes all the momentum out of any break we need at least one dynamic full back. Matthews earns his corn defensively but we cannot have him and Gunter in the same starting eleven. I'm also keeping my powder dry about the keeper
I still think we have to take a breath until the transfer window is closed, but we have made things really hard for ourselves
What does concern me is after watching 3 league games we have no discernable way of playing. We are whacking it long to a guy who thrives off service from width expecting him to frankly perform miracles. At least in the first half players from midfield were running on but that stopped dead on conceding the equaliser.
Kirk got no service at all but looked positive when he got on the ball
Bright spark is how good Deji looks

Worst league 1 performance since Swindon 3-0 when Slade got sacked?0

Unfortunately the game plan without Gilbey is very much to just play long ball to stockley.Ad to the equation theres no Millar to drive at defences, and no aneke to bring on late just shows how one dimensional and lacklustre we are.
midfield constantly were overrun and equally constantly overran any possession we had.
Very hard to be positive tonight, dreading this season (and the highly likely outcome/consequence of another year + in this shire league) nd we’ve only played 3 sodding games!!!0 -

TS has a new 5 year plan, at least we’ll be providing a pathway from the youth academy though, who needs to sign good players to get us to the Premier League when you can sell the likes of Albie Morgan to Gillingham for 500k1
-
Sounds like Inniss will be fine for Saturday
Sounds like it was always the plan for him to do 45mins the way Adkins is talking1 -
So now just two weeks before we can’t sign anybody we wake up to the fact that we’re actually crap and need better players. What a remarkably sensible recruiting strategy. 8 points adrift and up shit creek with no one seemingly able to authorise the purchase of a paddle.14

carly burn said:Hard to find any positives in that.So much expectation. I know he hasn't probably got the squad he wants, But with a full summer behind him, I expected Adkins to set us up much better than that.Busted flush? Maybe. We look devoid of pace and invention. Woefully slow and much of the time at sixes and sevenses at the back.Big concern for me.0

I thought Saturday was poor, but that second half was a new level of shittiness. Feels so much like a couple of seasons ago when after the covid restart we just sleepwalked into oblivion. It’s like a slow motion car crash1
-
The deficiencies of this team are alarming. No leaders in midfield or defence. Front 3 each 40 yards from eachother. Fullbacks offering little going forward...in the modern era that means you're playing with 9 men going forward.
And no plan B, obviously.2 -

Yet again I just repeat what I say in preview.
We will be in the bottom half of the table in early September until the two quality loans come in and two transfers. If that doesn't happen we will be bottom half.
1st half decent but poor goal given away but 2nd half we played like a relegation side.
No need to scapegoat any individual because they were all poor 2nd half but we are well short after 3 League games and a poor Cup performance.
25 clean sheets Nigel ?

When you can't create chances and score goals you rely on your keeper and defence too much. The first goal conceded is the goal that denies you victory. Our keeper has to take a fair bit of responsibility for the first goal conceded in the last two games.
It was why I didn't buy a season ticket. I saw this shite coming. I can wack myself over the head with a cricket bat for free and it is more fun than watching us as it stands.2
