another night time match about 5-6 years ago when a local cat took the walk that he presumably did most evenings onto the Valley turf but this time found 23 guys running around watched by 27,000 people,
Southend away around 1992.The first and only time I've been at a game which had the kick-off delayed to allow all the Charlton hordes in.Quite proud of that at the time !

i held up the queue because they wouldn't let me in with a bag of chips !
[cite]Posted By: Oakster[/cite]the naked (apart from his socks) pitch invader on a freezing cold night against Villa
if i could be bothered i would dig out that picture
He ran past southgate shouting allright mate I think we're related to which southgate replied.. "not with that we're not".
think i've already said that on here.
A Selhurst match vs Oxford, they were winning I think 3-1 with around 20/30 minutes to go and Charlton had just about given up. Leaburn started warming up and out of boredom the chant of "Leabbuuuurn" started and within minutes had spread around the ground. Carlo came on and every time he got the ball Oxford seemed to freeze and we wound up with a 3-3 draw.
I remember when Big Carl got a penalty to complete his hatrick and everyone was looking around at each other and basically laughing at the prospect of him scoring three goals in one game.
he tucked it away and people still seemed in a state of amazement, laughter and disillusionment rather than celebrating the goal.

Just wonder what the hell he made of it.
I was going to post that!
Blackburn at home in the championship winning season. We lost 2-1 and Ashley Ward's first goal for them was 3 miles offside!
away at colchester early 80's, fa cup tie. they played us off the park. we won 1-0 with kevin dickinson hoofing a clearance upfeild for a colchester defender to side foot it past his own oncoming keeper.
i remember the scaffold boards we were standing on bouncing up and down trampoline style. i think someone may have even fell through them.
Away at Gillingham (FA Cup) in the late '70's. My old man and his mates used to take us. We went early and stopped at a boozer on the way. Went in and the Charlton team were in there for a pre match drink. My dad ended up in a round with Killer and Les Berry etc. Classic line from Killer 'Its ok we're only 'avin a scotch or two'!! Proper footballers.
Another big memory, Promotion in the 70's when we beat Preston last match of the season all on the pitch and I was on telly.
Another, Sir Clive at Wembley!!!! Couldnt get there but saw it on the tellybox.
the game when the pidgeon chants started around 3 seasons ago... and we scored and out of nowhere appeared the pidgeon flying around the g then down to the concourse then came shooting back out the H/J tunnel... confirming it's legendary status
oh yeh and one more thing... watching the taunts the covered end directed at the builders when they were building the north upper... and them having to retreive the ball infront of 20,000 odd people.. all wishing for them to fall over or something
- Wolverhampton away in the FA cup when we lost 3-0. Never had seen some many charlton fans away.
- Our 5-0 away win at Ipswich (Leabuuurn attrick) and in the car park with fellow Addicks all joyous and saying "after you" to let the cars through - happy dayz.
- Shilton's save against Ray Treacy's header destined only for the goal at Filbert Street in the 70's.
- Millwall and the surperb Mr Morts show has to be one of the main highlights for all Addicks thats had to endure our many defeats against our dearest neighbours during those past years. That evening was sublime and I thought I was walking on air for the remainder of that evening - better than heroin!
- My final pick of the pops has to go down to Sir Clive Mendoca at Wembley. I have never seen a better attrick in my life that's meant so much to me (Sorry Sir Geoff Hurst). If only that moment could be bottled!
There have been so many times when I have had tears running down my face with pride, anguish or happiness.
Great to read the above, 4 others that stick in my mind personally are:
1. Ipswich in the FA Cup 1981. They were the best team in the country at the time. I was 14 and was allowed to go with a couple of mates to an away game for the first time (remember it was naughty in those days). The atmosphere and noise made by a ton of Addicks that day was unbelievable.
2. Hereford away on a Tuesday night in the League Cup, think about '89. We drove down there, wandered around the ground, not a Charlton fan in sight. Thought we were on our own (think we already had a 3-1 lead from first leg). Had a piss in a public bog which was attached to the ground, and a bloke walked in with a Charlton shirt. I said to him, "thank god there's at least 4 of us." He replied "4? you should go to so and so pub down the road." We did and there were about 200 Addicks signing the place out. Sent tingles down my spine.
3. Carlisle away winning promotion to Div 1. Only Wembley beats that as one of the best days of my life.
4. Spurs away around '84, may have been a cup game. B Mob letting off red balloons in the shelf. When we equalised (think it was 1-1) the away end went absolutely mental for about 10 minutes, ended up about 100 feet from where I was originally standing - that end was scary packed that day.
Leaburns hatrick away at ipswich. I seem to remember their keeper going off injured so they have an outfield player in goal for the penalty for his 3rd.
beating wimbledon 5-4 in the cup with Bowyer scoring a hatrick and Big fat pete garland scoring from about 40 yards.
liverpool away in the cup when kim grant somehow lobbed david james from the edge of his box. I remember thinking that their pitch looked massive.
Man utd away when leaburn scored and schmeichel got sent off for fouling Grant and everyone at half time thinking we were going to win it. We didnt get much of a sniff second half.
Steve Cotterill (sp.) falling on a hoarding at Selhurst and the headline in the paper reading "I nearly died"
standing on the terraces at selhurst throwing things at the coppers helmets as the walked past knowing we wouldnt get in trouble because we were so young.
Any time spent peering over the advertising hoardings at sellhurst, only a youngster at the time, but great memoirs.
Arsenal away late 80s with me bro and various other lifers i would say, stood on the clock end and thought the clock was massive! Was so cold when i went wee one of Simons girl mates had to do me top button of me jeans up, late 80s made 8 or 9 so very embarrassed! Dont no the score or anything! Did a few aways with me bro i did, spurs, watford, cant think of anymore, praps that it!
2 trips to sheff u, two 0-2 results in sheff u's favour! Also with morts geunis
Southend praps 95 when there was cafc everywhere, and the poor bird who lost her shoe on the pitch, copper or steward threw it back to her, que her mates throwing it back!
The minging fat streaker at palarse in the (95/96 perhaps) play offs (the one when Houghton scored!) Was funny tho!
Sir Clive's hat trick, you wont see a better hat trick, if you all just go and watch it, you'll all agree, 3 top class goals, the first one being imo the best when he turned them 2 defenders, and left them thinking 'WTF just happened!' Also seeing the same buch of mackems who had told us what they thought the score would be, but we were all just so drained! Amazing day.
Any of Morts' goals, pleasure to watch.
Echo the above about Darren Bent, the best goal he scored in my opinion is the one where i dislocated my shoulder celebrating, against Brum when he skinned Melchiot as if he wasn't even there! Fantastic goal that.
The atmosphere when we played Ipswich in the play off, Newtons goal was brilliant.
Reading away at elm park in about 95, 96 mebe, was so sick after me dads stag do the previous night but was there!
Norwich away, when Bradley Allan scored on debooo, twice i think, but great atmos in our end, and i seem to remember mad ipswich fan in our end cheers us on cos he hated Naaaaarrrrich.
Rochdale away when Charlton supporters ran on to the pitch in protest of the Gliksten family
Hereford utd away night game great support, great cider and me getting thrown out by the old bill, travelled with lewis coaches, only problem was i got dropped back at greenwich and had to walk back to bromley got home at about 5am(had to sneak in and crawl back to bed so as not to wake up mum or dad)
Plymouth Argyle at home night game and as far as i remember fireworks behind the SOUTH STAND, Argyle fans came into the covered end with a peace offering Scrumpy cider, was well good with good banter, can't remember the score tho.
For me, hearing the "Red Red Robin being played as the teams come out on our return, with tears in my eyes my boy laughing and telling his mum on our return home, "dad was crying at football" he understands now.

* Peter Shirtliff at St Andrews. What a game. I was convinced I was going to die that night, but I actually didn't care,
* Sean Newton's amazing header from the touchline for a last minute winner against Huddersfield (I think) at the Valley,
* Us winning 2-1 at Huddersfield (again) in that top of the table clash in 1999/2000 season. Amazing Robbo goal + Eddie Youds being carried off on a stretcher while all the Huddersfield supporters covered him in spit. I have never been so happy to see us win a game,
* Andy Hunt's winner at Coventry in the FA Cup. 2-0 down, 3-2 winners.

I remember that, he was injured in something like the 7th minute of injury time at the end of the first half, what the referee was doing playing so much injury time, if he had been a bit more sensible then maybe the injury would never have happened.
Many great moments and memories there but I'm surprised no-one has mentioned John Robinson's celebration after scoring the equaliser against ManUre (3-3).
Another particular favourite of mine was Lawrie Madden's oh-so-casual penalty miss againt Newcastle.

Yeah, he say a guy that owed him £20 from months back, the problem was the guy was sitting in the east stand....
Must have been 4000+ Charlton in that terraced corner and when Steve Mackenzie scored our equaliser the place went absolutely mental.
One of the best atmospheres ever - mainly "Back to The Valley"
Little did we know it would be another three and a half years :(
Or trying to crawl through the legs of a group of coppers on the concourse after having been drinking with the russians on the way to sunderland

That was a great night, 3,000 Charlton fans, loads of noise. Huth compeltely mis-passing it, Bent smashing it in.
Also Chrissy powell keeping wright phillips in his pocket.
Brilliant night.
Good shout
