Mason Burstow - on loan to Bolton from Hull (p53)

Sad but true. £2m would make a massive difference to our plans to go up next season. I would image it is around that figure with a sell on.5

Was Fraser the sweetener and this in the pipeline for a few days3

How easy is it to reject £2m or £5m at this level, and then watch Burstow get a career ending injury against Wimbledon?SELR_addicks said:
Then say no.ForeverAddickted said:
Yeah people are in dreamland expecting an eight figure sum.UEAAddick said:
Yh I can't see Burstow being that sort of figure, because he hasn't played as much and it has all been in League 1ForeverAddickted said:
Wasnt it £11m? - Plus he had Championship experience.SELR_addicks said:Lookman was £8m from League One so expecting more than that.
Biggest fees paid for League One players...

If it's not multiple millions it isn't 'substantial'.5 -
It is annoying that whoever has bid left it until now. Davison isn't great but he's at least a 4th striker. Just as Burstow has become 4th striker and we've loaned Davion out, he's off and we've got next to no time to replace him if he goes, very frustrating

Burstow has proved himself less than Lookman so far (had less opportunity), so not expecting that kind of money.2
-
That's a joke surely, they've probably got the most successful academy going. Tons of players currently playing at the top level came through their academy.Laddick01 said:Fair play to him, will earn an absolute wedge at Chelsea if that’s true.
Probably the worst move you can make as a young footballer though.1 -
Whatever the ‘substantial’ figure is, I’m sure Sandgaard would invest it in the playing squad for next season. We just have to hope that it is invested wisely.
Don’t think we will go down, so banking this money for use to build a strong team next season could be good for us.1 -
As he's a striker there will be an uplift there. Expect £4-5m If he goes for less than that I will be very disappointed.3
-
I thought there was some rule incoming that was meant to stop Prem clubs stockpiling players. Lol1
-
I'm surprised you haven't taken the lead off some bloke on twitter who says we shouldn't accept anything less than 25 million.SELR_addicks said:

Won't get near their bench for a while, he'll be out on loan for a couple of years at least. Maybe even loaned back to us?EveshamAddick said:Another lad going to sit on a subs bench some where. What a waste of time.0 -
This kind of reasoning leads to Gomez going for £3.5m. If we think they're the real deal then make them wait until the summer.ForeverAddickted said:

Thanks for the memories Mason.0

Worth remembering no deal is done as yet.3

Didnt Gomez have a release clause? - Thats not the same sort of reasoning!!SELR_addicks said:

Will probably end up following this more than the match thread tonight4

TS: “We have got multiple Premier League teams who are fishing to see if they can do a quick deal when it comes to Burstow,” Sandgaard told the South London Press.“We’ll see what happens. I don’t think any of them have come up to the price level that I’m expecting, considering his talent. We’re just sitting tight.“In contrast to the past, we can sit back and wait to see if the price is right instead of panicking and selling on the last day of the window. That is not happening any more.“There is a right value for a very talented player like Mason Burstow.“We’ll see what happens. If it doesn’t happen now then maybe it will happen in the next year or two.”5

I’ll do the positives then:
1) JJ said our valuation has been met, the business people around the club will have done their market research to see what an acceptable price is, we’ll have to trust them on that, but I think we all agree it’ll be better than the previous owners in recent history.
2) Sandgaard never said he won’t sell youngsters, but he’s invested sizeable league one transfer fees, again the previous owners would only put a small fraction (if any) back into the squad, so it could be an exciting summer window.
3) Burstow is nowhere near the finished article, he’s clearly got an eye for goal which is a big asset but we were never ever going to see the best of him, we could easily replace him with someone much better for now, albeit Burstow could and probably will go onto greater things in 3 years or so.4) We know full well there will be another Burstow coming through soon, we keep producing them don’t we? Maybe one day we’ll be back in a position to keep them for long or throughout their careers now they we have some owners in charge with long term objectives.8 -
Thats not correct in Parker’s case. Chelsea moved in early. The entire club fought tooth and nail for almost the entire window to keep Parker, and at least finally got Putin, sorry, Abramovic to pay full whack.Exiled_Addick said:
We’ve been doing this for decades. Way before Roland. Parker and Reid come immediately to mind, albeit Reid wasn’t a “prospect”.SELR_addicks said:
The deadline day sale of a top prospect does seem to ring a bell from Roland yes.Dazzler21 said:
We've not even had a fee suggested and people are comparing Sandgaard to Roland!SELR_addicks said:
Wasn't one of the positives that we would be able to hold onto prospects and demand a better fee?Callumcafc said:

So much for not selling our rising stars.
Bet the fee will be risable.
This just calls back to the Roland days of shipping a youth player out the moment a bid comes in.2 -
If he's been given permission to talk to Chelsea then I'd say it's a done deal.Dazzler21 said:Worth remembering no deal is done as yet.
They will offer him life changing wages.2 -

I'll probably regret this, but part of me hopes it is Chelsea talking to him0 -
I'd rather he wasn't loaned back and we got somebody who was oven ready. What is the point of developing for somebody else?8
-
4-5 mil, back on loan for the rest of the season, 20% sell-on and use the cash to get Daniel Kanu on a very long contract and I'd be happy7
-
Take the money and run if it’s enough of course.
We got £2m (?) for Bonne so I can’t see us taking less than £8m at a guess given potential.

Chelsea never offered him a deal did they? They had him on trial and dithered, we swooped in and put a contract in front of him and he signed it.ForeverAddickted said:

Disappointed of course, but always likely whilst we're at this level. Hope the fee's good and goes towards the summer squad build.1

We have always sold our rising stars and always will. That's football i'm afraid when a bigger club with money comes knocking .SELR_addicks said:He's gone.

Wouldn't consider £2m 'substantial' in today's market. Would be disappointed if that's the agreed fee.Callumcafc said:1 -
We still sold him at the end of the transfer window.PragueAddick said:
