  • Interesting to see that 4 of the top 6 went on to end up finishing in the bottom half, including the top 3.

Safe to say they won't be bottom half
Is it 'Safe' to say that? The team that were top of the table after 4 games last season were Cambridge. They went on to finish 19th.

Port Vale were 2nd after 8 games, they got relegated.
Corr there are some real Wrexham haters on here, they have hardly used any of their budget yet...
And  too many Wrexham  lovers on here.
Budget ? Parkinson was quoted as saying they had enough budget for one more signing on transfer deadline day after spending an underwhelming amount on players. . Comments like Wrexham have a budget to match Birmingham ( which have been on this site ) are laughable.
You laugh pal but it's a fact, been told by more than one agent!
With respect.... it hardly makes any difference. Either they have a massive budget but for other reasons couldn't convince their targets (whether that's Parkinson or something else) OR they never had the money in the first place.

Either way they really didn't do much to build a really good, promotion worthy L1 team and while they probably will be okay I would personally be very surprised if they can hold their current form for the whole season.
I agree with you there at 2.5 points per game would give them 115 points :)
Hey I would love it if we smash them, just saying write them off at your peril...
3 days ago we were on our way to 138 points, now we're only going to get a lowly 103.5. Things change quickly.
    That's a whoosh :)

Im very confident that we will finish above Wrexham this season, however that doesnt negate my view that GD was badly treated by the club and that he still gets into our current starting team if he was still here. Its all water under the bridge now so onwards and upwards etc but people who are claiming we have upgraded are seriously wrong imo
Yes, but I remember half way through the January window you were still thinking the play offs were on last season.

Not saying they won't be top half but there's 42 games to go. Let's not forget there have been teams top in December that have gone on to get relegated.

Bit early to start calling out people's end of season predictions.
Remind me the last that happened please. It always brings a smile

See we were the draw specialists back then.
  • I think Andy Scott is once again is proven wrong (Appleton, Ahadme etc..). If Dobbo is supposed to be average why was he picked up by one of the leagues most ambitious and well funded teams. He looked great in a slightly more attacking midfielder position at the weekend, picked up an assist too.
Why Scott proven wrong when there’s recruitment as we told many times is down to Jones to pick his targets .. so far our additions have been excellent and vast improvement that’s gone before

So who do you leave out .. the only position he can play his holding role and no way he would replace Coventry ….. our problems towards end of last season was the fact that we were trying to play Anderson and Dobson as attacking mid which failed miserably

And the other way round teams in the bottom eight around November made the play offs C Palace and Oxford to name two

What, when the SMT have said themselves that Scott identifies a player and then Jones has to agree (apart from Jones’s ex player mates I presume). Scott did hire Appleton after all, unless you’re going to try and tell me Appleton wasn’t that bad really.

We’re 4 games into the season it is ridiculous to project a points total at this time.
No, you don't understand. Four games in we are one point behind Wrexham, so we need to be projecting that we won't finish anywhere near the play-offs as we aren't good enough and that Wrexham are definitely getting promoted.
  • Something or someone doesn't have to be bad for their alternative to be good.

People can like Italian food AND French food. Even if you prefer one that doesn't mean you have to hate the other.

So, by the same token, we can think Dobson is a good player and that he did and still could contribute to our team while at the same team feel that our current midfield is strong.

Yet too often on here and in life in general some feel they have to disparage a player or whatever to justify their faith in their preferred choice, rather than accepting that each has his or her virtues.
Yeh, but Dobson is still better than Coventry :)
  • We only saw just how good Dobbo could be towards the end, after Jones came in. Prior to that he was simply a great defensive "spoiler".
He will flourish at Wrexham. Our loss is their gain.
In Docherty, Berry and Campbell though we’ve got three players who all have plenty of experience at a higher level. Dobson wouldn’t be a guaranteed starter if he was still here, and we haven’t seen Campbell play yet.

just like we are far from safe.
    As is anybody…🤷‍♂️
  • Nice assist for the winner from a cross today.  Well done Dobbo

  • Don’t worry our squads better than theirs
  • He is a perfect player for a Nathan Jones system

I agree, but I’m not writing them off yet.

Dobson didn’t properly show what he could do until Jackson took over from Adkins and put him back in the team.

That was in late October, before that point some had decided Dobson was a dud.
  • Would still be our best midfielder, comfortably.

Terribly missed, and I'm not afraid to say it.
He is missed, but he's not better than Coventry.

Not sure about him vs Berry

He's definitely better than the others we've tried in the number 8 positions

If that table is right why did we Palace and not Stoke in the play offs?

But she was a stickler when it came to apostrophes.  😉

If Coventry could just stop keep going backwards, reckon it would improve his affect on a game by about 3 fold
