Wolves have signed Portuguese (yes what a shock) midfielder Matheus Nunes from Sporting Lisbon for a a club record €45m (£38m) fee on a five-year contract.
Nunes has eight caps for Portugal and is expected to be part of their squad for this year's World Cup in Qatar.
He becomes the 10th Portuguese player in their first team squad. I've no idea how they're getting round the homegrown ruling as from what i can see on wiki they only have 3 English players in a 26 man squad.
Homegrown doesn't mean they have to be English. Just needed to have come through their academy
Or any English academy which is how three of their non-English players qualify as homegrown.
"Forest will pay an initial £35m for Gibbs-White, with a further £9.5m available in add-ons related to his performances and appearances, as well as the club retaining their top-flight status."
I think that takes their spending close to 150m this summer. They've spent more than any club apart from Chelsea.
Athletic reporting that Morgan Gibbs White is on his way to Forest for £44.5 million.
He's a very good player but that price is astounding.
BBC quotes £25 Million + potential £17 Million add ons .. that is a LOT of add ons, presumably to do with England caps, sell on fees etc. .. as said, silly money but English players always go for a premium price .. the player is only 22 and Forest under new ownership presumably have money to speculate

Blinding business by wolves... shift Morgan Gibbs-White and bring in Matheus Nunes for not much more

Needed though, don’t think that team that got promoted were anything special, one of heir best players was spence who has now left. They needed a new first team to give themselves a chance of staying up.

Yeah i agree and to be fair if you're going to throw a lot of money at it, then now is the time. Yes it's a gamble because they've rebuilt almost the entire squad. But if they stay up then in theory they're well set and can kick on and they probably just need 2-3 signings next summer.
The likes of Norwich and Watford are probably very jealous of Forest right now, as they just come up, do nothing and go straight back down.
Barcelona signing half of Europe despite not being able to pay players backdated wages, Forest spending 150m, Casemiro leaving Madrid for Man U, United also linked with an 80m move for Ajax winger Antony (yes 80m for a guy from the Dutch league), and now to top it all off, Chelsea are apparently interested in signing Harry Maguire!!

What is going on?!
If this all happened on a Football Manager save people would be crying that it's too unrealistic

And now Chelsea have apparently bid 50m + 10m add ons for Anthony Gordon.
He's a talented player yes, but 60m is fucking crazy.

English / Home Grown Player Tax
Yeah i get that but even so he's not worth anywhere close to that. Save yourself 60m and play some of the wingers you already have.
Hudson-Odoi is the same age - 126 games, 16 goals. Anthony Gordon - 60 games, 4 goals.
They have plenty of home grown midfielders and attacking midfielders/wingers - Hudson-Odoi, Mount, Gallagher, Loftus-Cheek (who's surely a better replacement in the middle for Kante than Gallagher) plus Sterling.

30 isn't that old for a DM, and it's the position they need the most.
Mind you, I thought similar about Varane....
Real have done well though, get 9 years out of him, sell him at a profit for about the same you spent on his 22 year old replacement, Tchouameni.
They look well set with him and Camavinga, just need a Modric replacement now and their midfield could be set for the next few years.

Surely their money needs to spend on a number 9

How many days before Barton comes out and says he regrets brining him back and needs him to leave the club? 30?
6 goals in 32 games in La Liga last season. 44 goals in 132 games overall in 3 seasons..........60m.
