Been told we have made contact with Morecambe over their winger Gomes, but several Championship clubs also interested.
At least we seem to be looking to shop in the right store.
How good do we really think he is? I remember when we were first linked with players like Green and Ajose and many thought we had no chance as there’d be Championship interest.
Unless there’s no doubt he’s ready to make an impact in the Championship then he may want to come to a L1 side going for promotion where he’ll get regular game time and it’s a smaller step up.
No idea, never seen him play. Seems to have done quite well this season looking at his goals and assists. That often doesn't paint the full picture as we well know.
Seems a good age to develop further though.
He is "the type" of player that a lot of people, on this forum, seem very keen on. The two Exeter lads being another example.
I also see a lot of throw back to 2011 and what we did or didn't do 10 years ago.
Did we sign a single player (who was signed for the first team) who hadn't played at least 1 season, very recently, in league 1? I can't think of one.
I am not passing judgement on him because I have never seen him play but we would only want one or two of this type, not seven or eight, wouldn't we?
In fact Chris Powell as manager made a point of telling us ........ that at the end of the previous season when his management/scouting team were planning the major rebuild, they made the decision to sign what they considered the best of the League One players available - players who had already proven themselves in the division.
Twine is going to be good if he continues to progress. The way he strikes the ball is special but he’s very lightweight. I’ve had an eye on him for 6 months now. similar sort of player is Elliott Watt at Bradford. Centre midfielder, 2 good feet, decent tackle and looks to have a lot of potential for his age. Strangely he looks like he is carrying a tiny bit too much timber so if he could give some to Twine he could be a good fit 😀
The sort of player who looked good enough against us to cause a mini panic after signing for someone else.
If he was that good he would have signed for Charlton , Ipswich , Sheff Wed or Sunderland fact he joined MK tells you everything
It tells me Stockley still isn't "done".
Give it a rest now, that's what 4 days in a row you're digging them out for the Stockley thing. Don't doubt Ronnie got it wrong, but hardly the only one when it comes to transfers, I'm sure they'll be a few more on this thread!
Why is it every player that signs for someone else, we’ve suddenly missed out on and it’s a disaster?😂, I think patience is the the word needed. Thomas hasn’t done anything wrong to make us mistrust his methods. He wants out of this shit league as much as us!!. Let’s keep the powder dry!!.

Thomas hasn't done anything wrong? Schwartz?
The same Schwartz who got a bunch of cameo appearances during one of the teams' worst runs of form? He may or may not be a flop but hard to judge on current evidence.

On Saturday when Cawley broke the Portsmouth interest he said "it's a good job we got in early" no other news has come out, the other two articles were rehashed from Cawley's. I asked if he had heard anything from his "source" that justified his back peddling. He didn't answer.
If he was so sure Stockley was done, and now is so sure Stockley isn't signing I think it's fair to ask why he thinks that. Because nothing in the public demain indicates either stance.
If you post stuff like "done deal" and it doesn't happen fair enough. To then change your mind based on, nothing more than, a click bait article leaves you open to a bit of stick. It wasn’t stated as a rumour, or a "I heard", it was stated as fact.

Like I said, no doubt they got it wrong, and yes probably are back peddling. With regards to a "bit of stick", you're digging him out every day. You clearly don't believe them, why not just leave it there. This thread will have enough crap on it (we all contribute to that) without pointless digs every day. I'm now contributing to the pointless comments on the thread, so won't comment further.

so in the sweepstakes I set up for guesses on the date of the first signings I guessed 8 June, which appears to be wrong. The good news is that no one else made a guess … so I’m still in the hunt to be the person with a date nearest to the correct date.

Agreed, not sure if he’ll get another chance but I’d love to see it now he’s had a chance to adjust, maybe get some family over and in a much happier dressing room.

Not to mention get out and socialise with his team mates rather than being stuck in a hotel room
The trip to Celtic Manor should hopefully help a lot

That’s a slightly simplistic way of looking at things. People said the exactly the same thing when Scott Fraser signed for MK Dons.
Twine had a lot of bigger clubs after him, it seems MK Dons have put all their eggs in one basket with signing him. They may even be spending the money they expect to accrue from selling Fraser.
MK Dons will be up there next year, let’s not forget they played us off the park at The Valley. They’ve got a really exciting young manager and a unique style of passing football, that’s more than what you can say about most League One clubs.

I haven’t rooted for a player to succeed so much for a long time, people may be right that he’s a flop, but the way he’s been written off with so many circumstances against him is quite bizarre. I hope the top scouts on this forum are working behind the scenes with Adkins this summer when they can judge a player based on such a small amount of game time. We’re gonna be dynamite next season!!!!
We should have a different thread for Stockley it’s doing my head in - what level of interest do other teams have on him is the real question ?
1)low - Interested in him because he is similar to our current striker and he could be a good option if we loose him this window - although he has a year left on his contract at PNE who are asking for a substantial fee
2)medium interest- we need a tall striker and he fits the bill - bit pricey for us though
3)high interest- he would integrate well, would be a regular starter, can see where he would fit in with the team and improve us, has huge potential and the price tag don’t scare us
Are we announcing a signing or two tomorrow then? What’s the significance of June 9?I’m behind on this. Or was it all a joke?
We’ve got so many players signing tomorrow, they are going to have to all sit in the West stand (socially distanced of course, wearing face masks) just to get in the obligatory ‘Scarfy’ photo.
if if we sign Mendes-Gomes I’d be both amazed and delighted. I’ve watched him four times and all his highlights and he’s quality.
Great technically and physically and that Wembley pen showed some real bottle for a youngster. He’s not the same but reminds me of Aribo. Will be sold for millions in 3 years time.
On another note. lots of people saying we real experience in the SMT. But specifically on Ged Roddy does he have any experience? wasn’t he more player development? I’m not sold on this fella yet.
Really that leaves us with Gallen & Nige and Gallen’s never actually had a budget before. Hope we’re well prepared.

Did he? Or was Twine linked to a lot of bigger clubs by some lazy journalist who has probably never even seen him play?
We don't even know who we are intrested in bar a couple of "I heard"s which I myself share as well, so I am not having a dig at anyone. The only really credible ones are the Pompey keeper and Stockley (both confirmed by Cawley) and that we were intrested in Randall and Kirk in January. Both under a salary cap and a different manager.
Remember back to 2011, as so many people like to, Wiggins was going to sign for Watford (a top Championship club at the time) and Green was going to cost 7 figures. Days later they signed for us.

You get the assist !

Not so long ago, it was whether we were going to have a club anymore....
The fact we haven't signed anyone yet with a decent owner, I would have taken in a heart beat not so long ago.
Thomas has a vision, and I believe he will achieve it

Been a few rumours that we've not made any announcements because the window isnt open
Although other clubs have been so wouldnt being reading into it too much.
