Would be interested in knowing what the PFA is able to do for their members who might be struggling with these kinds of demons and addictions, but it's very worrying that a sports person (as opposed to someone in an occupation where health & fitness are less paramount) can live in this way for such a long period.

It just goes to show we don’t know whats occurring in peoples lives. When it was reported I feared the worst but it’s even more heartbreaking knowing he had 3 young kids. It must be awful having to bring them up alone knowing what happened. Always thinking “what if” and “could I have done more” which is inevitable.
I wish them all the best and just hope more people turn to help and not drink and drugs

A footballer took his own life and had cocaine in his system when he was found dead in a hotel room, an inquest heard.
Yeovil Town captain Lee Collins, 32, was discovered by the club's assistant manager Terry Skiverton on 31 March after he did not arrive for training.
He had been "struggling with injuries and personal problems", including the break-up of a relationship, Taunton Coroners' Court was told.
