I imagine his daily tweets will stop at the end of the month once he finishes the prostate cancer fundraiser
I think he looks like he has settled into a groove, be good if it could become a regular spot on the OS, either daily as a "news from Sparrows" or post match maybe
The change happened at a time I thought it best for all parties for Bowyer to move on. I wasn’t so sure of that a month earlier, so I’d be interested what my reaction would have been had the bullet come then with Adkins installed.
Two weeks into the job I think I still would have warmed to him like I have, but I can’t be sure.
what is clear though is that all this has worked out very well in terms of giving a new man a fresh start with a clear slate and no lingering unhappiness from the fans from Day 1 about the change.
The most arousing part of that article was hearing that he does detailed work on throw-ins. For the first time in 25 years I'm excited to maybe see a throw in tactic that isn't: "slow the game right down, moan at your teammates, chuck it long down the line," or "take a short, loopy throw to a teammate under pressure who passes it back, out of play."
Seem to recall this is a pet peeve of @Viewfinder :-)

Is there anything about Charlton that isn't a pet peeve of his?
I wonder if Adkins will want to have a look at Lapslie before he's released? Still think there's a possible player for us in him.
I thought his transfer was made permanent???
He has signed permanently for Mansfield - for another two seasons after this one
Oh, right. I thought he was on loan for the rest of the season and Bows wasn't going to renew his contract. I just hope he's not one of those we live to regret
My biggest criticism of LB was his negativity not even really on the pitch, more a case of seeming to be on such a downer off it. Negativity breeds negativity that's a fact. I hope the fans dont judge anything on our last few games of the season if results dont go our way. It is total chalk and cheese from an outlook point of view which is a massive step up imo
Totally. Bowyer came in at a time when we needed the not too high not too low approach after the incessant wild positivity of Robinson. I never really bought into Robinson's ways. I thought it was something to do with him being a chirpy Scouser and we'd never warm to him.
Funny that Nigel is a chirpy Scouser. Early days but I don't get anywhere near the same impression of him as opposed to Gobbo.
Everyone needs a Nigel in their lives! ;-)
He’s not a scouser, he comes from across the Mersey. Like calling someone from Greenwich a cockney.

Nige is from Birkenhead, and regarded as a true scouser, apparently they call people from Liverpool "plastic scousers"

"Morning everyone. Yesterday's 8-1 defeat to Crewe wasn't ideal, but the sun is out and the birds are singing, so keep a smile on your face"
I went for a beer with a British chap here in Vancouver yesterday.
He used to live in Winchester and told me that he once sat next to Nigel Adkins at a pub after he'd just taken the Southampton job. Nigel was with his assistant (Andy Crosby) and had obviously had a few drinks. Lovely fella apparently - they were both there watching a Liverpool game on sky. He wasn't very well known at the time (had just taken Scunthorpe up via the playoffs) so wasn't being bothered by people.
The funny thing is he told my mate two things (which both ended up being true). The first was that Southampton would get promoted that season. He then proceeded to point at Steven Gerrard and told my mate that he was a "good player" as if this was some valuable insight.
The positivity has the potential to grate, but it hasn’t happened for me (yet?). I like him to be honest, and if he brings us success I will love him. Keep up the daily pep talks Nige....you’re simply going to have to come to terms with your Wally name as best you can.
I honestly don't understand anyone having a problem with positivity. People find it grating? I think that says more about them than the person being positive. I get how unrealistic 'Happy Clappy' routines are irksome but from everything I am reading, our New Manager is genuine.

Pedant corner, He’s not a scouser, as many from Birkenhead/Wirral will tell you if you ever make the mistake of calling them one, one of my pals quite ferocious about pointing it out.
heres a little tranmere fan ditty
Don’t be mistaken,
Don’t be misled,
We are not Scousers ,
We’re from Birkenhead,
You can f*ck your cathedral,
And your pier head,
Cos we are not Scousers,
We're from Birkenhead…

Better to be happy and positive than miserable and negative.

And what a lovely place it is as well.......not.
Ive spent some time there, like anywhere it has good & bad, I quite like the area, if pork pie is still on here under another mantle he would agree

Agreed on the good and bad. I have always enjoyed trips to Merseyside and Birkenhead, but the area on the whole is not great.

Upton is very nice, despite having a pub called the Eagle
If and it’s a huge if, we were in the premier league in 5 years time, with Nidge at the wheel, some on here would be saying , nah it’s time for him to go, he’s done all right. But it’s not like we’ve actually won anything like the FA cup or champions league!!!
Enjoy the ride people, life’s too short, make the most of it, you never know what’s round the corner, good or bad.

I agree with your third paragraph wholeheartedly .
There's just six weeks to the end of the "normal" season so I'm sure that there won't be too many moans especially from those who want to earn themselves a new contract. I also believe that Adkins mentioned that they had a day off from training on Friday and they will probably only be in for a couple of hours today anyway.
Something for those who find Adkins’ videos “cringe”...
At first I had the same impression when I found out that he was odds-on favourite to be our new manager. But when I realised that this sort of positivity was going to be reflected onto the team, it did change my opinion. Bowyer’s approach to things was clearly sucking any kind of enjoyment of football out of a lot of the players.
Secondly, football is built on emotion. Without emotion, football is literally just 22 blokes kicking a ball around with no purpose. And at League One level, you don’t need to have a squad/manager of tactical masterminds to get out of it. You just need good players (which we have), and a good spirit.
Is it cringe that we all pay £20 a game to stand in a stadium, mostly full grown adults, singing songs in unison and going absolutely ballistic when a single goal is scored? It probably is a bit cringe and contrived to those who don’t get it. But we do it because it lifts our spirits, and those on the pitch. That’s what football is all about!
Adkins strikes me as someone who really gets what makes footballers, fans, PEOPLE tick. We can choose to resist it and call it false/fake or whatever, but if you’re going to do that, then apply the same to yourselves the next time you’re on the terraces and maybe you’ll have a re-think.
Anyway, this is all a bit deep for me to be posting on a Sunday morning so I’m going back to bed.

Did Bowyer dump you at some point? You seem very bitter, he has left. Move on.

Anyway I was sort of on the “they are a bit cringey” side of the fence but they’ve now grown on me. I think he’s got something about him.

Dont think the complaints were about training on X, Y, Z day - It was more ensuring the players got a rest after each game
