Total lack of ambition going for Adkins. He is someone that would get the job in the Roland era.

We now have the money, the owner and the potential to do incredible things, I would be fuming if we go for Adkins.
    Why fuming exactly?

If someone said there's a Danish coach called Bjorn-Nigel Adkins-Schmeichelson who won the league in one country, was promoted twice with one team, one of only 3 managers in recent memory to get double promoted to the top division, but for the last kick of the final day missing the playoffs with another team you'd be well happy!!
  • If Jacko goes and we end up with Adkins I'll be gutted.

    This is kinda mad.

Stick the two managerial CVs up side by side. On what planet is Jackson seen as the smart choice?
Planet been at charlton for a decade.

In which case Jackson would never get a Management job then.

Hate the "But you need experience" line... Absolute bullshit as have had it thrown my way a few times too
  • Bowyer wants Jacko at Brum with him.
Well knock me down with a feather, didn't see that one did we, and I could well see that happening if and when we don't offer JJ the managers post.

Jacko on his own, yes, I agree. Jacko someone more senior along side him (Curbs?) is a different story.
  • Does anyone know if Bowyer wants Jackson to join him at Birmingham??
  • I read into that as Bow is trying to win his pal the managers job! Forcing Sandgaards hand.

I read that as, Bowyer wants people he knows and trusts alongside him at Birmingham

Would be a real shame to see JJ go, he's always been there to pick us up when needed
  • Andy Crosby who is usually Adkins number 2 has joined Port Vale today.

  • Jacko with Curbs as his mentor would be my ideal choice , but Adkins might be a good fit with the success he's had at several clubs .

I'd be very happy if JJ stayed as a number 2 with Adkins. Not sure JJ will want to though. He'll be fairly gutted if he doesn't get it
  • Test for Tommy now. Give jacko the job or lose him.
  • I liked the idea that maybe JJ thought Bowyer was a bit of a knob and was embarrassed by his awful man management. If they are actually a tight team then perhaps JJ has to share the  responsibility for our poor form this season.

Why not Keith Peacock ? He’s been there longer still

If we already had a good set-up I wouldn't mind an inexperienced manager.

But we need rebuilding from top to bottom, an experienced manager will be able to help a lot more than Jackson. From facilities to the correct backroom staff.
  • Right I think I've got to the bottom of this. Page 28:

I'm gonna stick my neck out here and say that I've heard murmurs of Nigel Adkins.

Probably get pelters but thought it was worth sharing. Would make sense with the Roddy connection.

Interesting, heard a murmur have you @Addicktion? Well going back through your posts you only have one other post on this thread but it was edited to be blank. I wonder what that said? Helpfully someone quoted you on page 17:
Nigel Adkins could be a shout? Managed to get Southampton promoted from Lg1 to the prem and could fit the long term model TS is looking for?
Just seen this however some people's lol'ed it?

We're getting his Dad, Bing, instead. He's gone fishin' around the world but hopes to be back in time for a white Christmas

Because he hasn’t been assistant manager/coach for the last five years, thought you’d be aware of this.

If five years is your criteria then Jackson wasn’t even a coach five years ago and he’s never managed at all.

Just because he has been here a long time does make him a good manager?

All the candidates being mentioned are proven, JJ isn't.

Not my criteria as such, but clearly knows the club inside out (in recent times).

I don't understand why people don't rate Danny Cowley saying he is average.

Not only is he a very tactically aware manager he also makes his team's the fittest in the league as well as winners everywhere he goes.

His record speaks for himself as a winner.

    Concord Rangers:

    Essex Senior League Champions 2008
FA Vase Quarter Finals 2008 (Club Record)
Isthmian League Division One North Play Off Finalists 2009
    Essex Senior Cup Finalists 2009
Isthmian League Division One North Play Off Winners 2010
Isthmian League Premier Play Off Winners 2013
    Isthmian League Cup Winners 2013
    Essex Senior Cup Winners 2014
    Essex Senior Cup Winners 2015
FA Cup First Round 2015 (Club Record)

    3 Promotions (1 champions 2 play offs)
    3 Cups
    Breaking club records

    Braintree Town:
3rd in National League 2016 (Club Record)
    Lost to Grimsby in play-offs
FA Cup First Round (Joint Record at the time)

Club record of highest ever league finish

    Lincoln City:
    National League Champions 2017
FA Cup Q/F 2017 (First non league team to reach quarters)
    EFL Trophy Champions 2018
    League Two Champions 2019

2 Promotions as champions and the EFL Trophy in 3 seasons.

    Huddersfield Town:
Took over Huddersfield when they was struggling and won October's manager of the month going 6 unbeaten.

Rebalanced the budget and did his job of keeping them in the championship then shafted as they wanted a foreign approach.
Know it doesn't matter much anymore, but I saw a stat saying Cowley got 50 of Huddersfields 51 points...
