What do we think the whole MJF absence was about then?

There was the incident of him missing the public appearance, and apparently being unhappy about his contract.

3 months’ off of TV seems a little drastic for it to be a suspension, and doesn’t seem plausible for it to purely be for the sake of storytelling.

My guess is that maybe he needed time off to get surgery to take care of something.
Maybe time off for something like that, but the whole thing was a work. When CM Punk left WWE  in storyline he should have been off for a couple of months not weeks.

Personally think the Punk situation is too serious to be a work.  There's a lot of heat on Punk from the locker room right now

    I’m still a bit undecided.

So many people online talking about how it’s a sour thing to see blah blah blah. It’s like when players start falling out during a football match….”nobody wants to see that”. Yes, I do. The online wrestling community is a strange one - complain when there is drama, and then complain when there isn’t any.

Call me a mark, but I find it interesting one way or another.

If it’s a work, if it’s a shoot - don’t care, I want to see what happens next.

If there’s anyone who can pull off a worked shoot of this level, then it probably is CM Punk. They’re all smart enough workers to know what will get us talking / watching.

The Wrestling News can report that Megha Parekh, AEW’s Chief Legal Officer and EVP, was present for a portion of the CM Punk / Elite locker room altercation.

The Wrestling News can report that Megha Parekh was seen engaging in conversation with the Bucks shortly before they approached CM Punk’s locker room, and was seen leaving the room with CM Punk’s dog, seemingly taking him to safety.

The Wrestling News can report that Christopher Daniels, AEW Manager of Talent Relations, was with The Elite when they entered CM Punk's locker room.

Edit: to avoid multiple posts.  Punk and all 3 of the Elite pulled from Dynamite.

The end of the PPV was meant to build to MJF V Punk. They had an angle for in in the Casino Royale ladder match, paid for a Rolling Stone song for it, no expense spared. Why add The Elite to the angle?

Now tonight following the above Punk isn't there. Not exactly going to plan is it. Interestingly MJF will be there with a live mic! :) Likewise the new trios champions (can't believe they've brought back a 6man title) won't be there following their tournament victory.

This is the trouble with giving everyone control of their own creative. Ego's get in the way & it doesn't work. There's nobody really in charge & Tony Khan can't keep it under control.

I'm not saying it's the beginning of the end, but I think there are a lot of backstage issues within AEW

What I will say as a counter argument though....If it's a work, it's possibly the greatest work in the history of wrestling.

If it's not a work (which I suspect it isn't), it could be the start of the wheels falling off for AEW.

I'd love it to be a work

If it is, or it isn’t, it will somehow find its way onto television in some form or other. It always does.

Initially, I saw it and thought it was ridiculous and unnecessary.

Now, I just think it needs to be enjoyed for the chaos that it is. Wrestling fans have a habit of trying to overthink and over-evaluate everything, which always just ends up in complaining because not everything can be perfect all of the time.

After years of WWE being ridiculously sterile and boring, I’m all in with AEW’s madness. And what better time for MJF to have a live mic in his hand!

It's more interesting than what's happening on TV but I can't for the life of me see why they would work an angle that their company is an utter train wreck after having the massive return of MJF. Maybe Punk drops the title to MJF and Punk and FTR go after the trios title in some weird work shoot mess.

The thing is the Omega v Punk is the money match in all of wrestling (that can actually happen) because it is the personification of the split in the IWC.  It doesn't need any shoot/work.  The story is there already.

The story is already there, but this does multiply the interest in it considerably (if that’s where it’s going).

The more I think about it, the more I think it’s a work. AEW will go to all lengths imaginable to try and pull stuff like this off. They were even willing to have their biggest home grown star off of television completely for three months to try and suspend disbelief.

Punk out injured "indefinitely" according to twitter.  Striped of the title tonight regardless of the investigation.

    That's convenient

Was icing his arm during the post match media scrum, apparently a torn triceps and surgery would mean a year out

What they need is a tournament to decide who to sack.

This thread has gone a bit quiet so thought I'd bump.

I've thoroughly enjoyed the WWE product since HHH took charge & think it's vastly improved, but Roman Reigns Vs Logan Paul........no thanks!!

Is the White Rabbit stuff the returning Fiend/Bray Wyatt, Karrion Kross or a curve ball?

The parts I’ve seen definitely show improvement, and I’d be watching it a lot more if AEW didn’t exist. But it’s so much live wrestling to cram into a week - 7 hours a week if you just watch the three main shows!

Widely regarded to be for Bray

Slightly concerned about Paige joining AEW.  There must be a reason WWE wouldn't clear her to wrestle & AEW stars keep getting injured

Is this why Reigns went over in Cardiff? The Saudis wanted that match? Can we make comparisons to David Arquette? Nothing wrong with celebs in wrestling, especially athletes like Mayweather, Rodman, Karl Malone, Lawrence Taylor etc. But for the world title?

I don’t mind Logan Paul / Reigns….it’s a novelty match which fits with the Saudi shows. And I actually have a feeling it will be decent.

Paige / Saraya’s return was a genuine surprise, and does feel like a big coup for AEW. I always felt she was a little bit overrated, but no denying she does bring star power.
