It’s a shame Barker doesn’t have slightly more first team experience as feel he would be more than a decent option for while the 4 CBs  are injured.
    hes miles off first team
    Why?
He's played in it before and done well.
We have the four senior players out.
He's not too young to play.
    He's a good player.
Pratley and Gunter just had a very bad game

    Why's he 'miles off?' @Redhenry
Agree. Barker was our best player v Plymouth. That doesn't happen if you aren't almost ready.

Perhaps its needs a youngster to give the old 'uns a kick up the arse on this occasion.
And Argyle played their unchanged full strength League side.
Barker proved very capable against them.

But Barker is still only 17. Maybe the question isn't even is he ready ...... but rather, it's about combination with other defenders; playing him alongside an established specialist CB is fine, but not alongside a makeshift CB like we are playing with at the moment?

Two sides trying to bounce back from heavy defeats, hence 1-1.

I still don't understand why he can't start games. He had a big injury last season, but has been back quite a while. He seemed able to play games for MK Dons. And he didn't seem to lag despite significant minutes against Plymouth and Burton.
Putting my LB hat on; because if Aneke has only got limited minutes in him per game, we feel its of more benefit to have those minutes towards the end against tiring defences and when the game is more open.
Problem is, if Aneke comes on in the 2nd half we could be a goal or two behind by that point (remember Gills & Burton) and although he scored in both of those games we only managed a point. Might it not be better to start him, get a lead then if he tires he could then be replaced.

I say that because of our appalling stat of going 19 games of not winning after going behind. This seems to indicate it would be best to score first......and atm that does not seem to happen with Bogle starting.

Not confident about this one at all. Cannot remember a time ever before playing with no centre backs and it must have an effect? One yes, plenty of times: Mortimer a centre half losing at home to Palace, Holland losing to Forest. It just does not work sadly. 2-0 Ipswich, defence is better but still breached and we all blame Maddison.

    Here's a more realistic formation

    Amos
    Matthews - Gunter - Pratley - Maatsen
    Watson
    Morgan - Shinnie
    Maddison
    Washington - Bogle

Not the prettiest side we'll play but I think they'd do a job. Given Ipswich's crossing in their last game I'd gamble on a narrower formation.
For me Pearce has to start and maybe Maatsen could do with a rest. I'd even consider playing Barker as he's never let us down.
I wouldn't mind going with an old fashioned 442 if the personnel is right.

                             Amos
    Gunter - Barker/Pratley - Pearce - Purrington
                            Watson
                     Shinnie
    Smyth                                    Maddison
                 Aneke       Washington
Mines not the team I'd select, but based on Bow's comments.

Get Maatsen on the bench. He desperately needs a rest. Get Morgan in for Maddison and Chucks for Omar. Otherwise unchanged.

I’ve no idea what the score will be.

What bothers me about Aneke not playing is if Ipswich employ the high press as effectively as Burton did, we need an outlet to bypass it.

It is one thing, passing it from the back to front and if you can do with little risk, it is fine making passes that are not beneficial (the player receiving is in a worse of similar position to the player passing) as if you keep doing them, something can open up. With the high press, you can't keep doing them as the risks of losing the ball are massively increased. Then you have to get the ball out of the defence as quickly as possible.

If you can make, say for arguments sake, seven defensive passes on average before you lose the ball, then you are safe enough passing the ball around four or five times, even slightly higher a few times. If, as what was happening on Tuesday, you were getting in trouble after two passes, you have to get the ball forward immediately.

The thing about Aneke is, even if he doesn't win the ball, the defender doesn't win it with control. So it is good to aim these clearances at him. The problem with other players is that they get tackled more easily so the hopeful balls invariably come back at us more. if Aneke is tackled, his strength means he can still win the ball back.

You can never be sure until you see it, but I do have a feeling that Aneke and Bogle would compliment each other at this level.

Anyway, as for today. I hope Bowyer was bluffing in his pre-match interview as he doesn't seem to acknowledge that pressure can breed errors. I think what Tuesday should have taught us is if we are being pressured by the high press too much, we need to have a plan B and not delay moving to it. We still have a lot of quality and I think Ipswich may try to beat us rather than trying to stop us. If they do that, we have a great chance still.

I think that the size difference of the pitch will play a telling factor. We will continue to play out from the back, trying to find an opening. Burton’s pitch is likely to be the smallest in the league whereas Portman Road have quite a large pitch, that will suit us better.

Looking forward to this afternoon actually, think we should be in for a far more positive performance and hopefully result.

I reckon one of Pearce or Famewo will start. But if not we need the experience of Purrington and Matthews to cover the makeshift centre backs, and we need speed and width going forward, so:
                                Amos
    Matthews       Gunter      Pratley      Purrington

                                 Watson

               Morgan                     Smyth/Maatsen

                                  Shinnie

                 Washington      Bogle

Subs AMD,  Pearce, Famewo, Aneke, Foster Caskey/Vennings, Smyth/Maatsen, Gilbey

I would not have Maddison near the first team until he gets his head right and his fitness up.

Got no idea how we'll line up today.

Ipswich will be a different test, as you assume they'll have a lot more of the ball than Burton. Are they are pressing side?

Oshilaja was at Sparrows Lane 25 minutes ago judging by his Instagram, so probably safe to assume he won't be in todays squad

    In the absence of an experienced CB returning from injury I would go with 5 at the back today as follows;

                                          Amos
    Matthews       Gunter      Pratley     Barker     Maatsen
                          Morgan     Watson    Shinnie
                                    Aneke     Washington

Subs; AMB, Pearce, Gilbey, Smyth, Bogle, Maddison Purrington

Back to winning way,1-0 to the Addicks COYRs.

Sounds ok, till you get to Chuks, we need The Beast to come on
2nd half and impact the game, swap him for Smyth to start

Reckon we will see Maatsen in midfield for some energy and running on one side of the diamond. Albie on the other and Heres Jonny at the tip.

Why do so many keep mentioning Barker? I really can’t see him coming in to the squad at all. You don’t go from no centre backs to suddenly your youngest and most inexperienced centre back who is not ready to play against a team like Ipswich.

Purrington or Levitt will come into the squad in place of Oshilaja, that’s likely to be the only change we’ll see from the 18.

I don't think people are expecting Barker to play just that they hope he would. Given our calamitous performance at the back the other night and him barely putting a foot wrong so far, I'd rather see him involved too.
