FM manager 2020 was free at the weekend - downloaded it and it is so much more complicated than it used to be (not played since about 2008)! Haven't figured out how to navigate it at all
The weird thing is that I played FM20 regularly during lockdown, but lost interest when I actually started becoming good, and had Charlton on course for promotion to the PL!

It's not actually very complicated, it just pretends to be. There's so many menus and options that you can get away with never using. You basically only have to think about your signings, scouting and team set-up and other than that you can ignore more or less anything else unless you want to engage with it

I always tend to take charlton to the Prem, lose interest, then start a game with some one in conference south, get promotions, new hires etc and then some how make my way to the champions league, lose interest, then BAM, new game comes out

Get a good assistant manager and let him crack on with all the shit you don’t wanna do.

Yes, I was sad when Jacko left to manage Notts County, but I easily got a better replacement

I'm the same, I prefer it at the beginning when you're shipping the players out and signing outrageous players
I really wish FM & EA Sports would just join forces and combine the 2 games, would be amazing
Whilst it was never as good as Champ Manager or Football Manager, FIFA Manager did have that combination to a degree. Why EA haven't ported a lot of the features over to FIFA's career mode baffles me, as that would definitely see me (and I suspect many others) wanting to buy FIFA again, as all I ever played was career mode, and it got so stale that I haven't bought FIFA for 3 years now.
We should setup a CL online league if there's enough of us.
The problem would be getting everyone to be able to commit the same amount of time at the same time. Also, anymore than 5 players becomes a real struggle, as you have to wait for others to click on and you yourself might want to be doing such things as scouting, or building a tactic, but feel pressured to hurry up because others are waiting on you. I've been playing online since it became a feature (around 2010 I believe) and I do find it more enjoyable on the whole, but too many players will spoil it IMO

I can't think of anything worse than EA getting involved with Football Manager. I don't want to have to get decent coaches and players out of a random card pack that I can pay actual money to get better odds on.
The problem with combing FIFA’s frostbite engine with FM is that there’s no way you could fit all of that on to a disc and run it smoothly on console.
Maybe a powerful PC could but then again, how many people have the specs to run that sort of game. I’m surprised they moved it over to console this year, the whole reason they stopped providing it on console was because there’s not a big enough player base there. It’s definitely a game for PC gamers.
That said, I look forward to seeing what they can do in 10 years time.

Much prefer the way Sports Interactive go about their business.
