Wow day 12, sets up the last few days of the Bashou nicely!0

Kotozakura withdraws on day 14 after an incredible victory over Hoshoryu. I assume he was due to face Onosato with the Yokozunas facing off on the final day? A massive disappointment. He seemed to be back on form for the first time this year, was he producing these performances whilst injured?!1

An earlier decision to withdraw would have enabled them to schedule another opponent for Onosato. Also would have kept the Basho alive for Takanosho and Aonishiki prior to their bouts today.
Can't blame Hoshoryu for Henka-ing Wakatakakage, but it's not a great way for a Yokozuna to win.
Still we have the decisive bout(s) tomorrow and a guaranteed Yokozuna win.

There were some boos when he did it, very 'Australian cricket team'.
Looks like Wakatakakage who was tipped for Ozeki will drop to komusubi with his make-Koshi. Such a shame and surely just a minor set back. Aonishiki has proven to be the real deal for a fourth time and must be next inline to join a lonely Kotozakura. Having said his countryman was lucky to not be relegated, Shishi has only gone and recorded a double digit victories!
If Hoshoryu wins we get a rematch in the play-off. We all remember how the last day of the Natsu bashou went. A finely poised climax!1 -
Wow and double wow.
