Released by Millwall aged 16. 4 years later worth £20m...
We released him at 18.
Don't worry, though, as we made the right call by keeping Fred Onyedinma instead. As I understand it, that was the rationale behind the decision.
You can't buy that level of scouting and judgement.
Football is about opinions
Charlton have let Semi Adayi and Harry Arter go.
Players can improve in different surroundings
Agreed. In this case right ones and wrong ones Probably the second worst recent transfer decision (outgoing) the club has made behind the sale of Tim Cahill.

Remember seeing Fred play for you against us, a few years back and thinking he looked a great prospect. Is he still with you and just not lived up to it or gone elsewhere?
La Liga sticking by Barcelona (suprise surprise, they'll lose a lot of commercial money with no Messi, CR7, Neymar in the league) and saying anyone wanting to take over Messi's contract will need to meet the €700m release clause. Messi didn't turn up to a Covid test this morning as he believes he's a free agent.

La Liga also take a % of every transfer in and out of Spain.
There was no chance they were ever going to side with Messi knowing how much the would stand to lose commercially, and from anyone who would even think about offering any money for him right now in this situation (there’s no chance anyone is paying the release clause).

I reckon they'll end up agreeing a deal worth about 100m (money + a couple of lesser players like Garcia and Angelino).
The alternative is keep an unhappy player, pay him almost 1m a week and he goes for free next summer anyway. If he's adamant he wants to leave they're better to just move him on.
Good signing for Brentford and suits the way they play. Surely means Watkins will leave now?
Shows how they were in for Taylor before, could’ve signed him for free this summer but chose to swerve him and pay up to £10mil instead for Toney. Maybe his attitude played a big part in that decision from Brentford.

Probably because Toney is younger so more chance of sell on value in the future.

Age could have been a factor. Wages? Would toney be in less than the snake
I dunno about yous but I’m getting pretty sick of Sky Sports showing Ben White’s screamer effectively sending us down every time they mention his contract situation.

Brentford have an eye for selling players on and Toney could be a big earner for them.
