  • Taika Waititi's version of "Next Goal Wins" will be interesting

I enjoy his films but part of me thinks a Hollywood version isnt needed with the Documentary good enough as it is

    Road is a brilliant film.

Probably/arguably the best film I ever acquired.   Very lucky to now sell the film worldwide too.
  • 'Champions'

(Bob Champion's successful fight against cancer and then going on to win the Grand National on Aldaniti. 1984 film starring John Hurt).

On a not altogether different theme - 'Secretariat' was a cracking film as well.

Helps if you like horse racing of course.
  • Hands down best sports film is Rudy (Netflix)
  • This Sporting Life

Old school you can feel the tackles...
  • Chariots of Fire

(Bob Champion's successful fight against cancer and then going on to win the Grand National on Aldaniti. 1984 film starring John Hurt).
About 20 or so years ago I was on a jolly to Kempton organised by NatWest where they had Bob Champion come along to talk about the day’s races and give us a few tips as we were sipping our drinks and stuffing our faces with food beforehand. One of the races had just 3 horses in it, two joint favourites and a make weight it was suggested we ignore. We duly ignored the makeweight. The two JFs fell over.
  • not a film and mentioned above, but last week watched "The class of 92; Full Time" back to back. Really interesting on so many levels (I started to like Neville, never thought I'd say that), Scholes (when he's on) deadpan responses are brilliant, the original management structure is weird (can't work out if they are brilliant or chancers), and there is a nice feel about the club in regards to how they respect the volunteers that were there long before the millions came in.

  • Slapshot
I like the sequal . Slopshat
  • Aussie rules film The club .
  • The motor sports doc Uppity on Netflix is very, very good. The climactic qualifying scene - well, let’s just say a fly got into my eye, which was making it water.

    Free Solo

I love Free Solo but I can't make up my mind whether Free Solo or Dawn Wall is my favourite rock climbing documentary.
  • A Sunday in Hell - Jørgen Leth’s documentary about the 1976 edition of the Paris-Roubaix cycle race, featuring Eddy Merckx, Roger De Vlaeminck, Freddy Maertens and Francesco Moser.

  • The Harder They Fall, said to be one of the best boxing films ever made (100% rotten tomatoes). It was Humphrey Bogart’s final film. Jersey Joe Walcott also appeared.
  • This Sporting Life

Old school you can feel the tackles...

Superb film with a great performance by the late Rachel Roberts.
  • Talladega nights
  • Seabiscuit
  • When Street Hockey was all the rage in early 90's (On proper roller skates, not them inline toot), there was a film that done the rounds on VHS about Ice Hockey called Youngblood. Remember that being a good film and all our mates loved it
  • Let it Ride -

Richard Dreyfus has a lucky day at the races.
    Light hearted easy watching.
  • The Damned United was a great film. What interested me was it was much more sympathetic to the great man that was Brian Clough than the book was. His family was anti the film because of the book, but Clough is the hero of that film and the performance of Sheen is mesmeric. He is Brian Clough.

Sheen is a very underrated actor.
