    Foul by Marcus Tavernier (Middlesbrough).

Conor Gallagher (Charlton Athletic) wins a free kick in the defensive half.

  • Deji looking quite good, but not really linking up well with Pearce.
  • Next Left sided CB and LB please new owners. And a defensive coach as well.
Our defense has had no real injuries. They're just poor.

Centre-backs look like they haven't had any coaching at all.
So your  both digging out Johnnie Jackson.

I said at the beginning of the season I thought our defenders would struggled in this division, week in, week out.
And I didn't just mean Naby.

More to do with the ability of the players to concentrate over 95 minutes, than any fault in the coaching.
The out ball from the back would normally go to Cullen...
  • 28' Oshilaja makes another good block, this time from Assombalonga eight yards out, while Pearce does enough to force him into a rebound over the bar. #boro 1 #cafc 0
  • Purrington and Pearce are like the chuckle brothers
  • Listening on VP.

Commentators unable to work out what formation we are playing.

Anyone watching want to try and enlighten me?
    4-3-3

  • Distribution from Pearce is appalling!
  • I worry we are getting worse each game
  • Not impressed by the back four at all today but that's nothing to do with effort or coaching and everything to do with ability.

    Foul by Dael Fry (Middlesbrough).

  • The body language of the players looks well off today, has something happened?

  • Not very happy this afternoon are we ?
  • 32' Tavernier volleys wide from a left-wing cross. #boro 1 #cafc 0
  • I don't think it's 4-3-3 because Doughty never seems to be on the left? Seems like it's meant to be the diamond with Doughty at the top of it, but it's all over the place with Gallagher/Doughty miles away from Pratley and Ledley
  • Middlesbrough look fabulous.  So much space.
  • Get to half time then change shape. This is terrible.

Probably think they will be replaced in January

Do you think our defending has been good then over the last 6 weeks? They must work on stuff in training? Whatever they work on isn’t really working is it? More to the point it’s basic errors. If that’s down to Jackson, then yeah, I’m digging him out.

And we didn’t even concentrate for 60 seconds today so I don’t know how they can be expected to manage 95.

  • We don't look great today at all, however I've seen us play worse and win.

  • 34' Assombalonga can't get enough on his header from Clayton's cross. The Addicks are struggling to make anything happen here. #boro 1 #cafc 0
  • Hoped it might have improved with Gallagher back , missing Cullen big time.

Far too much time for their wing backs to put in crosses from deep. We need Leko wide right and Doughty wide left with Bonne up top.
  • Good header from Dills.
  • Does not help having our back four (or three) changing every week
  • Ledley is all left peg.
  • A well coached defense is greater than the sum of its parts.
  • There may be a reason why sides getting promotion to Championship have sold him, and he's now 32.
  • I worry we are getting worse each game
We'll surely reach the point very soon where that can't happen
