It surprises me how many posters are so confident that we've got real money now.
There is sod all evidence of that right now. The bid for Maddison was a possible indication but if we can't then match his wage demands the existence of funds is unproven. Ditto the reference to "£15m earmarked for investment in the training ground".
So far, we don't know how much they paid Duchatelet. But they haven't bought the land the Valley is on, they haven't bought Sparrows lane, they haven't agreed new contracts with Bowyer or any key players (especially Lyle), they haven't landed any transfer targets but rather have lost out to both Championship and L1 competitors.
I'm not saying they don't have funds but I think it's wishful thinking to assume they have. The truth will become clearer in the next six months.
My thoughts exactly. I have no doubt that in the medium term it will be OK. For the sake of a few dozen million HE, or his boss, will make sure it is because they wouldn't want the public humiliation.
I said on day one, either Bowyer or MS, possibly both, won't be here in 18 months.
Nothing has changed in the mean time to make me change my mind.
Maybe not in this window but is there anyone on here who thinks we consider looking into the forgien market a bit more. Not something we have really done under bow's and gallen, but our scouting network seems to be restricted to the UK really atm.
I was with FFP rules and prices inflated on British players, should we be not looking to take a gamble on foreign players more now with the new investment.
Matt Southall told fans before kick-off at Preston that he had not signed anyone yet as the players he has spoken to wanted 'silly' money. Whether their salary requests were genuinely outrageous, or the current going rate for a Championship player we can only speculate about. What seems clear is that to attract the calibre of player they want. Charlton may have to pay over the odds. On a brighter note, the club anticipate making three signings this week, with Bristol Rovers' midfielder, Ollie Clarke, beings poken of.

Totally agree, gone from one extream to the other, when neither is 100% right.
Not a rumour but someone I flagged last season is having a cracker this season. Tyler Walker on loan at Lincoln from Notts Forest is up with Eisa and Toney in l1 goal scorer charts.
22 goals last season at Mansfield in L2 and 13 or 14 in L1 so far. Looks to score all sorts of goals too

There’s a chap in France who looks bloody useful. Adrian Grbic of Clermont in Logic 2. Big and strong, Austrian with a rocket of right foot and very calm in front of goal. Only 23 but seems to know where the goal is

It's pretty much how I see things, but I have to say with so many negative comments on here, you question whether the doomsayers are correct.
So is this a good article or are ESI the same as RD, have little money to spend and Lee Bowyer will be walking out Thursday ?
I'm sure with our record, any minor injury problem could be turned into something much worse...
What/who do you expect us to sign sitting 19th in championship?!

Posting without reading. I heard Pedro Chirivella could be joining on loan.
Would be very nice. Bit of a slow starter in his career but was amazing vs Everton.
Wouldn’t say no
