We moan about no signings, searching for freebies & journeymen. Now we have money & are actually delving in to buy serious players, some are still not happy or questioning the fees!! Only Charlton fans..... If stats are to go buy, we are buying an upgrade version of De Bruyne
The release clause is all that would need to be met. I agree with Manilow, this tweet was him informing all other suitors that there is an official process to go through, and, characteristically, he's being transparent with the club's fanbase. I've followed him on Twitter for a while, envious of the likes of him & Andy Holt at Accrington whilst we were owned by Roland. He cares about his club and he's just the sort of bloke football needs.
I would love for us to sign him because he's an exceptional talent, you only have to look at his stats record and some of those goals in his highlights reel, and, regardless of what is being said about his attitude, if we do take him, I reckon Bowyer is the right man to manage him.
The other plus is that Bowyer is a midfielder who reached the semi finals of the CL. Players like Maddison will look up to that and likely learn from him. Providing personal terms are met and Bowyer wants him and he wants to be here, this could be a great signing.
If we got him and Toney, and it was announced whilst I was at work, I can see myself having to go to the toilet to compose myself, like I did 6 years ago when we sold Yann, but for very different reasons. This is really good to read and I pray we get him in. I think the first 'name' player could be just what we need to know we mean business.
Southall hasn't put a foot wrong so far, and I wholeheartedly believe everything he says, but as soon as I see something happen, I will be over the moon.

I can only see positive comments to be honest. Don't think anybody is questioning the fee, just wondering if we have met the release clause. The social media announcement from the P'Boro chairman has got people believing it could be alerting other clubs which is a reasonable consideration.

You must not of read through the whole thread...
One or two saying he has an attitutude problem (based on opinions from P'Boro fans) but I think the majority of the comments are still positive/excited.
The language in the Posh chairman’s Tweet (“we’ve accepted a bid...”) makes me think we haven’t offered the £2.5M release clause but a number lower than that which Peterborough find acceptable.
Definitely expect him to play at the tip of a diamond rather than out wide for us. He's not particularly quick so wouldn't be quite as effective out wide against Championship defenders.

Maybe moaning was the wrong way to put it, but from my view it seems some are questioning it? Either way, lets hope it goes through

Not quite sure that can be true given they have accepted the offer...
Nobody said we didn't need a striker. We've admitted to bidding for one. Some childish comments do turn up on here.
I said on January 2nd we desperately needed a striker or 2. ( Which was true) But its a fluid situation and if Taylor (stays) Bonne, Davidson and a new sharp Hemed are all fit by February 1st then defensive positions will take priority in this window.

Really? Looks rapid in some of those clips.
Think some of the clips are from a few years ago. I'm not saying he's slow but I'm not convinced that he'd be very effective out wide at a higher level. Playing in the number 10 position and I think he'll be very good.
Okay, I’m going to be a miserable git and say I have slight misgivings about this one. The highlights reel looks great, but so did Frank Moussa’s, Ben Reeves’, and Otzumer’s. It’s great to be able to spend a few notes at last, but is attacking midfield really a priority, unless Aneke and/or Otzumer are out for longer than we think? Is he better than Williams? I find that hard to believe. More importantly, though, is this talk of an attitude problem. The one thing that has kept us afloat is incredible team spirit. It could be very costly if that balance is upset. I hope Bowyer has done his homework on that part of Maddison.
If B&G fancy him then I trust that, but could this be someone that wasn’t a primary target until MS made a suggestion based on his contacts with their chairman?
I guess I‘ve just seen too many “exciting” signings turn out to be crap, and too many “underwhelming” ones turn out to be good, to draw too many conclusions on how players have done elsewhere. All that counts is what they do here.
i.e. Might be a case that we're not paying it all now but in installments and after a set number of appearances etc.
A very good point FA, i don't know how the clauses work if someone offers the release clause amount but not all in one sum. E.g if we offered 1m up front plus 1.5 over the next 2 years would they have to accept?

That plan for this afternoon has gone right out of the window

Part of the 'adding a couple of zeros' brigade?
