  • But then we did spend a lot of time singing;
     Van Persie, when a girl says no...
  • Understand City are letting us train at their place before Rochdale/Oldham/ Bury next season !

    Ronaldo is easily the best player to have graced the hallowed turf... In my lifetime at least :lol:

    Saw him a few times at The Valley. Whilst I'd say he was a great player, he also fell over every time a blade of grass touch his boot. I'd give it to Bergkamp.
  • Van Persie should have been sent off before he got the chance to score that goal.
    One of my most angriest moments  as a Charlton fan.

    Exactly and their defender handballed it so we were denied a definitely pen. That's why I hate them talking about their unbeaten record that season. Our players may have had a chance of denying that had he been sent off and we scored the resultant penalty.

  • I think the best player I ever saw at the valley was Thierry Henry.
  • Man City lose to Spurs - they've been Charltonised!

    Only one team plays at The Valley and wins

  • I don't like show ponies, but at the same time I don't want to see the best players being hacked dangerously either

    I think modern football has the balance right, football would be a lesser sport if the likes of Ronaldo and Messi had been hacked like the great players of the 60s and 70s were, and as a result were gone by the age of 30
    Not exactly true.
    Stanley Matthews for starters played to a ripe old age.
    Luckily for Stanley Matthews he quit just before Chopper Harris, George Curtis, Norman hunter etc could kick lumps out of him in late 60' and early 70's
    but Matthews was an English icon .. giving him a good kicking would have been like kicking and tripping the queen mum, George Formby or Winston Churchill, a near treasonable offence
