JamesSeed said:PeterGage said:JamesSeed said:eaststandmike said:Not really the point though James is it. We now live in a world where a kid like this can stand behind a grown man with a mobile phone filming while he smashes an egg on his head.
Anning might be unpleasant but 10 years ago a kid of that age would probably not even think about getting that close and doing something like that, the egg would have been lobbed from a distance at best.
I would not have lost any sleep if Anning had decked the kid and knocked him sparko and then stamped on his mobile phone, he would have deserved it.
The action of the young lad is unlawful (assault) and is simply not acceptable.
Should the eastenders not have prevented Moseley from marching through their patch in the thirties, in the interest of free speech? This kid was far less physical than they were.
I vehemently oppose everything Anning stands for but I do not agree with the attack on him.
if you support it then you’d have to also support a far-right supporter smashing an egg over the head of a Green/Left Senator because - guess what? - they would see it as exactly the same thing.
Where do you draw the line? It’s OK to smash an egg over someone’s head but you can’t throw a bucket of shit over them? How about an open handed slap to their face?
It is a slippery slope and not one that sensible folks that value and open and free democracy want to venture down.
We compete with words not acts of violence no matter how trivial they may seem.7 -

You only have to look at the horrific murder of Jo Cox by the deranged Britain First supporter to see that - and, no, I am not comparing stabbing someone to death with cracking an egg over someone’s head.
That being the case it’s probably a good idea if everyone keeps their hands to themselves and debates with words not violence.1 -

My missus just got back from work and told me the Utrecht shooting was a domestic. Man shot his wife and people who tried to stop him apparently. Horrible thing to happen.

Those on the far-right see those on the left as being just as awful and unpalatable as you find Nazis, why then should you be able to physically attack them and then complain when they physically attack you?
Secondly, who decides who and who is not a Nazi and therefore open to physical assault?
It is perfectly acceptable to be anti-immigration without being anti-immigrant and inciting violence against minorities but who is going to police this? It is perfectly acceptable to express serious issues with Islam without inciting violence against Muslims. Who decides who should be protected and who should not?
Again, those on the far-right would justify their own violence in the simplistic black-and-white terms that you have here "It's a question of right and wrong" = "I don't care what liberals thinks" = "We should fight Islam whenever we get the chance."
You would argue, of course, that you shouldn't compare Nazism with Islam - and you'd be absolutely right to do that - but the point is that there are plenty of people on the far right who DO think Islam is on a par with Nazism and therefore is an acceptable target for violence.
We can never police all these shades of grey in terms of what or what is not politically acceptable but what we can do is to agree that political violence is wrong - and very dangerous - on all levels and should be avoided at all costs.6 -
Anning is a racist, xenophobic piece of dog shit...
Him getting egged after his appalling comments is the only bright spark in an entirely predictable and horrendously dark series of events.
When right wing bigots are given a platform and fan the flames of hatred there is only one result, hopefully we will now see a big push back against this, not just here but around the world.4 -

The far right are attempting to make people think the two (Islam and Isis etc) are the same, and they’re not. Just like Hitler and the Jews, now it’s current nazis and Muslims.
Anyway, don’t want to annoy the mods, this discussion should be in a different place, so time to duck out for me. ‘All we are saying, is give peace a chance....’

Lots of people would enjoy it. Some people would book a few nights' stay in his hotel to celebrate (then cancel). A few would moan that they should support the team instead of throwing eggs.
@DOUCHER would have posted a few minutes before the egg got thrown, to say that no eggs will be thrown.
@paulie8290 would start a thread.
@JamesSeed would say he'd had a phone call from an Australian supplier of eggs, who would be able to sort us out with a few more, within a couple of weeks. Just hold tight...
@NapaAddick would say the eggs were definitely worth $70 each, but probably more now that they're smashed.
@Chippycafc would make a comment about the yolk being better off out of the egg; no-one would understand what he means and he'd complain that everyone's stupid.
@i_b_b_o_r_g would make a surprisingly good egg-based joke (probably using the word "eggzit"), and refer to the egg thrower as Eggy.
@Airman Brown would explain, in meticulous detail, precisely what had happened, who was involved, the order in which everything took place, who the main protagonists were and a detailed explanation as to what might happen next. And then face dozens of posts asking him to explain it all again.
@PragueAddick would produce a brief, but detailed argument about how he buys all his eggs from Marks and Spencer, but can't get them delivered because of Brexit.
@bobmunro would be offering odds on who threw it.
@AFKABartram would pop in, say "guys...", and pop out again.
@Leuth would moan that they weren't Venezuelan eggs.
There would be lots of discussion about whether they were white or brown eggs, at which point @Chizz would wade in with "stop being so eggist", get the hump and flounce off again.
@seth plum would demonstrate he understands the whole egg issue faultlessly, but would then ask if anyone has solved the border issue yet.
@Anna_Kissed would share genuine concerns about the on-going welfare of the chicken.
@soapy_jones would make a dirty (but genuinely hilarious) joke, but one that hasn't been politically correct since roughly 1979.
@PeterGage would correctly point out that, as it had been thrown one-handed, with one foot in the air it was technically a foul throw.
Lots and lots of people would post, almost simultaneously about the phrase "foul throw".
@Fumbluff would post a picture. @Dazzler21 would post a gif. @seth plum would post a gif; and then another one; and then another one...
@DOUCHER would post to remind everyone that he had said all along that an egg would be thrown.
@paulie8290 would start another thread.

The Daily Mail humanises this mass murdering terrorist by doing a big story about how this "blond little boy" grew into a normal person but then his Dad died of cancer, he went traveling and something happened and he came back changed.
Would they ever do a story like that for a Muslim?
No, when it's a white guy, they don't even call him a terrorist, he's just someone who's had problems in his life...3 -

can anyone genuinely believe that we would see the slaughter of muslim's on a world wide scale? i can't, people should practice there faith and not enforce it on others and should not be hated for doing so that is my outlook on it.
what riles people and adds to the hate pot is actions like mr khan in 1 breath saying we do not have enough police and this factors into the stabbing epidemic in London then in another breath saying we will put police on every mosque, non muslims will not feel as important etc.
imo the word nazi gets chucked around far too often these days, as they were truly evil bastards.0 -
I avoid threads on these topics on CL, but I was named by @Chizz so while I am here, I will make this solitary contribution:
Theresa May and Jeremy Corbyn should study carefully the words and actions of Jacinda Ardern and understand that this is what leadership of a modern nation looks like.10 -
Neither of those two are capable of effectively leading their own parties, let alone the Country.3
