    Purrington is solid defensively, but I've never seen a left back more afraid of going forward in my life. His end product is almost as poor as Mashall's.

    Purrington played well on Saturday and got up the pitch without hesitation - his main problem was the lack of cover provided by our midfield when defending. His primary role is as a defender and I'm unclear why he gets so much criticism.

    There's no point having a defender who neglects their defensive duties and is regularly out of position.
