  • Scotland played Oman today in a 50 over ODI.

Oman managed 24 all out off 17.1 overs with Khawar Ali top scoring with 15 - extras was 2nd top score with 3 and the other 10 batsmen made 6 runs between them!!!

In reply, Scotland took 3.2 overs in reaching 26 without loss. Cross with 10* and their captain, Coetzer with 16*, successfully steering them home with just a matter of 46.4 overs remaining

There are two more of this series left and they are being played tomorrow and Thursday. For the sake of his team mates, let's hope that Coetzer elects to bat should he win the toss rather than today's decision to field,

Well 2nd ODI today and Scotland won the toss - and again elected to field.

Oman mustered a very respectable 248-8 off their 50. And in reply Scotland are staring defeat in the face at 121-7 off 35 overs.

As Greavesey might have said (but didn't) "Cricket's a funny old game!"
But Brian Johnstone did, and long before Greavsie.

  • In the 3rd and decisive ODI, Oman won the toss and put Scotland in - they amassed 303-5 and in reply Oman were 288-8.

Quite what happened in the first match when Oman were 24 all out I really do not know.
  • Meanwhile SL have an extremely makeable chase for what would be just about the most amazing series result in living memory

SL are 80-2 and need another 117
  • And still the band gloriously played on...........
  • 44 needed and sill just 2 down
  • If the first chase was astonishing, this has been utterly clinical
  • Sri Lanka win by 8 wickets to land the series - in South Africa!
  • The first time a team from the Indian Subcontinent has ever won a series in South Africa - that is quite an achievement. With the re-emergence of the West Indies hopefully we will be seeing more competitive Test cricket all the year round.
  • Vishwa Fernando robbed for MOTS there imo

  • They were a man down and conceded a big first-innings lead away from home, then won by 8 wickets. Incredible

    Not in August/September!!
  • Afghanistan managed 278/3 in their T20 match with Ireland. Blimey. Ireland having a go at the chase as well
  • Zazai afghanistan opener got 162 off 62 balls 11 fours and 16 sixes !
  • Duanne Olivier signs as a Kolpak for Yorkshire. He's only 26 but has taken 48 Test wickets at 19.25 and 399 First Class wickets at 21.85

Olivier turned down a two year South African central type contract. Yet another example of how limited the opportunities are to earn a decent living in South Africa - 42 have now signed Kolpak contracts since 2004.

    Does Brexit end Kolpak?

That is a very good question and possibly why Olivier has chosen to jump ship now.

Edit - comment transferred to England thread.
  • NZ 715-6 declared (their highest ever Test score) in reply to Bangladesh's 234 all out

Top three batsmen all got tons with Williamson 200*. Pick of the bowlers has to be Mehidy for his marathon spell of 49-2-246-2
  • Bangladesh showing some pride, put on over 200 for the 5th wicket but have just lost a couple of cheap ones. Trail by 88 with 3 wickets left.

  • NZ win by an innings and 50 odd.
  • Kohli is really quite good, isn't he?
  • Like, India will probably lose this game, but Kohli is quite obviously the outstanding player on show
  • He is an absolute freak
  • World no. 1 all rounder, Shakib Al Hasan, banned for 2 years (one of which is suspended) for failing to report numerous approaches to fix matches.

  • Was trying to remember if it was Bangladesh v Pakistan that was a bit iffy in the World Cup but it was Afghanistan wasn't it?
  • Thando Ntini, Makhayas son, played his first first class game for Cape Cobras today. Also a quick, and a real prospect apparently.

He played 4 games for Canterbury in the Kent PL last season including a match against Bexley in which he returned figures of 6-0-33-0
  • PNG rapidly becoming the new Afghanistan, as they beat Namibia to get to the final of the T20 Qualifying tourno.
Plus, they have a player called Killa.!
  • PNG should be awarded the title without having to play the Netherlands in the final, purely on the strength of their magnificent, proper cricket caps
